This is how I’d solve that particular one: I have a quick look to see which “puzzle” on the right looks easy to solve. The top one looks simple. So I look at the left column and use my mouse to block off the second square, and try to ignore the last square. I scan down, and find that there is only one solution: the fourth one down makes “taps”.
The second one on the right also looks simple to solve. Again I use my mouse (or my finger) to block off the second and third square. I quickly find out that the bottom one is the only option: save.
Now I’ll jump down to the bottom one on the right. It also looks simple to solve. I block off the fourth and fifth squares with my mouse or finger, and find the third on the left is the only solution, “bunk”. Now I have just three left.
The second last one is my next choice. I can use my finger and mouse to block off the first and fourth squares, and “sips” at the very top is the only option.
I’ll do the third from the bottom next. Again I use my finger and mouse to block off the first and third squares – “also” is the only possibility (second last).
I’ve left the third on the right last, as it has the hardest pattern to block off, but there’s only one left: “smug”, the second from the top.
I guess I’m kind of doing it backward, but that way I find it easy to scan through all the words and see if there are multiple options. It there are two possibilities, I’ll choose a different one on the right, and hopefully after solving a few more, one of them will be taken by the time I get back to that one.
I hope this makes sense - I've been doing it this way for quite a while, and I haven't failed one in a long time. Good Luck!
