I have a similar problem with Lazy Zums. When i click on the prize box, i get booted out of Webkinz World. Nothing shows up at all in my dock, though.
I called customer service last week about another issue and asked them about this, too. "We're aware of the problem and we are working on it" was the only explanation i got.
So i'm just waiting patiently until i hear that it has been fixed. I don't even know what the prize is supposed to be, so it's easy for me to just ignore it until the problem is resolved.
This is an incredibly complicated web site, I can only imagine the scripts and gaming programs, that it takes to run it, and then complicated it by having multiple users. Fix one thing, and another goes awry. Adding new programs to the old programs, is most likely a nightmare. And to make it work, it can be a long trial and run process, I’m sure. It also has to run the same on multiple browsers, what works on yours may not work on mine. Not to mention the Graphics, the Flash, the Java, etc….. To get it all going in the same direction, is a lot of work and testing.
I’m as frustrated as anyone else but, really over all they do a darn good job of running it, as complicated as it is.
It will all work out someday, and I hope someday soon. And Ganz or whoever, most likely does too, so they can quit working on this project and move on to something else!
I also wish they would come out with some new room themes and new clothes, new decorations, new outdoor stuff, etc……
I do wonder though how many people work directly on the Webkinz Web site. How many people it takes to run it?
You bring up a good point. So it makes me wonder how Club Penguin has managed to be glitch-free despite also being so complicated and introducing new things......
I used to see Ganz trolling for cheap part time coders on hire-a-programmer websites. Definitely NOT a way to ensure quality.
IMHO, they need to dismantle many of their things-to-do activities and "move" them into Kinzville Park as locations, naturally after (if?) they fix the park itself. I'd actually love to see a "location map" for the park, like that for Vacation Island. Such major change would give them an ample opportunity to beef up coding quality by "modularizing" all activities. Yes, that might postpone releasing new features for a month or two, but I'm quite sure most WWers are willing to tolerate that (at least after the Xmas).
As things are now, I have a nasty feel that Ganz is just squeezing as much money out of WW as possible before abandoning it.

I hope they don't abandon it. But they certainly have been putting the squeeze on. Retailers are required to purchase so much other Ganz merchandise before they can even put in an order to Webkinz, that a lot of local places have stopped carrying them.
Between no retail, cheap manufacturing, bad programmers and frustrated customers, it doesn't look good.
Yep, I know that there are other sites that are just as complicated, that run with FAR less glitches.
You would think with all the money that Ganz rakes in, that they would have programmers falling all over the place, to work there.
Maybe they are going to ditch it? That would be a real bummer after all the money people have, and continue to, invest in it.
I’m fairly new to Webkinz, to the people that have been here for years - “has it always been like this”?
The same thing happened to me, every day i click on the giggly zum prize and get another outfit that can not be worn. I can sell it in the w shop.. But i wont because when they do fix it, i hope i get one. Who knows. They sure have their problems. I would hate to work in customer service.
Wish I had seen this BEFORE I got my last giggly zum and clicked on the surprise box this morning. Hope they fix this glitch soon. I was really hoping to have the costume before Halloween, but that didn't happen, now I still don't have it.

And can you believe it. I finished up the gigglies on my younger granddaughter's account today too and can't get the costume.
