Hi. My name is tygerwoman6, and I have a webkinz problem. Think we should start a 12 step program, or are the webkinz your therapy? I bought my first webkinz for my niece and nephew last year and thought they were cute. However, I didn't actually get "hooked" on the site until my niece and nephew bought me a webkinz for Christmas. Since then, how can I put this? Well, let's just say that it isn't the mass number of cards that have gotten me to the Platinum level of Hallmark's Crown Reward Program (maybe someone should tell them that sending out emails that show us how much money we are spending in their stores is not a great idea-- I know, but I don't know, if you know what I mean).

That being said, I enjoy the site a lot. It is something that I share w/my two favorite kids-- and it has actually gotten my niece in the habit of emailing me a lot (she and her brother tell me what items they would like from the w-shop, and I earn the KC and send it to them; its a great way to spoil them to my heart's content w/out actually doing so- although my sister would probably say that the webbies they now receive on every holiday are probably doing that for real).

I'm a big computer game player to begin with, so in a way webkinz actually lets me earn KC for playing-- which I would do regardless. I find the site a good way to chill out when I'm stressed (one of my favorite reasons for playing games is to wind down from a tough day or week). Plus, I like the virtual shopping. Although I spend some money on the webbies and the cards, I can do a lot of my "retail therapy" in the virtual world.

One thing we have done w/the webkinz that I have enjoyed is to get my mother using the computer. She hasn't had much patience w/modern technology (and she still isn't thrilled w/it), but we did get her a virtual pet (two now) and she gets on when my niece and nephew are visiting. She had a hip replacement in the winter, and it was nice that she could hang out w/the kids in a way that didn't require a lot of moving around.

Well, I've gone on too long. I do that here. But, that is another nice side effect of my webkinz "addiction"--I've got an online community that I really enjoy being a part of.

I, too, am an addicted adult. Less than a year ago I didn't even know what they looked like because we had a huge backorder problem in our city. When my daughter finally found and bought one, I started my research about the company. I have been getting progressively more hooked. I finally opened my own account using all the mystery pets, because the kids were so disappointed with all the white terriers(especially my son, those pink bows have got to go). I personally love the trading cards. Although, I really like the stuffies too. They are so cute and soft and have great visual personality because each one is a little bit different. We have all of the pets except the cheeky dog, the big st. bernard, the big basset, the big unicorn, the big brown horse, the big grey and white and the big orange and white. All my daughter's friends hang around asking me questions too. I started working at a concession stand when I was 11 and never stopped until 37 when I was knocked down by a disabiling illness. I figure I was an adult as a kid, now I have the chance to be a kid as an adult. There really are much worse things to be addicted to. I love webkinz!

I ask my fiance on a regular basis "Do you feel like you are marrying at 10 year old?" He laughs and says no. Theres nothing wrong with being young at heart!

I dont know what I would do without my daily dose of WW and WI!! I'm study to take the actuary certification exams, and I get sick of looking at numbers all day!!

Thumbs up Re: Adults Who Are Hooked On Webkinz...

I am a 50 year old Grandmother who started when my grandson wanted a Webkinz for Christmas last year. He does not have a computer at home and at school they do not get into the computer lab daily, so at first I was playing on his account, checking it after work each day to see if he had been in.
It wasn't long before I was addicted and now have my own account.
My first pet was a lilkinz Elephant- named her Pearl. That is my 2nd daughter's middle name. She has Cerebral Palsey, so I can relate to the Mom with the son with Down's. She can't wait to get on computer and I have to hand-over-hand assist her in playing. She loves it. She is 27.
My 2nd pet was a gift to my youngest grandson who is too young to play, but loves to watch. He wanted a pet of his own instead of arguing with older brother over his pets.
My 3rd pet was just for me, and on and on it goes.

Does anyone else get razzed by other adults, including husbands for playing what they consider "Kid games"???
I have showed it to my Mom, because she likes playing solitaire online. I plan to buy her a pet for Mother's Day so she can soon be addicted like me. I remember several years ago, giving her a hard time for spending so much time online playing games. Can't razz her anymore.

Hard to get any work done around the house.
Also frustrating that I am not allowed to play games at work, even over the lunch hour. The system at work blocks any games or sites they consider wrong. But I definitely can't wait to get home and play.

Mingo Smore :chi:Graham Cracker Sparkle
:husky:Snowflake :husky:Furball :clyde: Clyde :tdf: Starshine Topaz
:ccat:Sapphire :el1: Elfaba and a Mouse named Pip

Soon to adopt a Turtle and a black/white cat- but haven' t decided on names yet. I so much want to get a Lemon-lime Gekco when they come out. Also am looking for a racoon. They are so cute!

ANYONE know if the retired animals will come out of retirement???

Nope, not addicted. I do get a tad concerned when my daughter tries to rearrange my - I mean her! - rooms. And she may not have done the daily activities for a while, (what if she forgets one!?) but I'm not addicted. I am hooked though!

I may be addicted to WI, but that can't possibly be a bad thing. Right?
