I think that they are getting away with it because most suggested retail Manufacturer's price on the plush is about 14.99 to 17.99, So at the high end of the spectrum you are actually paying 5.49 less for your pet. You also don't have the inconvenience of plush, so it is like they are giving you an 'environmental solution.' (Yeah right).
$7.50 is right in line with what I think they should be to the general population, too. Considering that the only overhead they have is to pay for the design team to create the pet and accessories, and they don't have to pay for warehousing, tailoring, shop employees and distribution...They could even come down on this MORE and still make money.

I agree; I can get a real Webkinz (the plush) for cheaper than what a virtual image costs.

I do agree with you in a lot of ways. Did you know they charge $45 for a virtual Build-It-Yourself castle? (non-deluxe member)

For the pixels, Yes they are extremely overpriced. As for the webkinz, as a lot have mentioned, It works as a convenient little store if you don't want to go out driving for a webkinz as they are getting harder and harder to find. It's a good way for ganz to put a little more money in their pocket as webkinz sales are declining. However the prices on the virtual items... Ridiculous. When the E-store came out I thought the little items would be like $0.50. But no, Most of them are $5+.

Financially, I stopped buying from the estore all together. We just can't afford it. (Especially with the American economy)

for the pets, $12.50 for an eStore pet or $13.00 for a plushie. Hmmm, in that case I'll take the plushie.
I do however like the magic forest charms and figures. There is no place near me that sells those, and I really don't want a million little plastic animals! Maybe if I ever get so many plushies that they don't all fit in one tote bag I'll feel differently about the estore pets, but for now, I want the plushies!

I think the overall concept of the e store is great and I would like to see them offer even more. One thing would be to maybe bring back some other retired items or pets. I would love to see the old Halloween walls and floors brought back for example for just a day.

With that being said pretty much everything there is overpriced in my opinion. I realize that markets and availability vary depending on where you live but 12.50 for example for a pet or 8.00 for most items is too expensive for some pixels. In my area we can get Webkinz for around 11 or 12 dollars and often 2/20.00 and this is for the new releases. Face it, the economy is not that great and I may be wrong but after the initial design of the animal/item that would be it for their expense. If you had a slightly lower price chances are very good more can be sold and ultimatley Ganz will still make money.

For the most part, I am okay on the prices, except on the pets. I think since no real stuffed toy, the price should be way less. If it were, Ganz would sell way more I am sure.

I liked the price before. It was like $11.00 and now it's $13.00 and plus tax it's almost $15.00! Who would want to pay $20.00 for one webkinz? (Who ever posted that)

I don't like the e-store because of the pets! If they didn't sell pets I'd be find with the e-store, because I'd like to get all of the pets, but I can't because of the ones in the e-store.
