Level 5 can be extremely tricky if you don't take your time. It is very hard but if you can't beat this then the rest will be very difficult because there is another level JUST like this one.
Your best bet would be to:
1) Do the Kinzville Academy and get your marks up (if they're not already).
2) Ignore the coins and bonus things. They get you a higher score, but not a trophy so ... just focus on beating the track.
I'm pretty sure that those hurdle things are the only obstacle in that level so what I recommend is trying to get as far as you can and get a good idea for when certain obstacles occur so that you can get through them faster, swifter and easier the next time you play! Then once you win you can go back and get the coins to go for a good high score!
