At first I thought the challenges were totally impossible. I never played Tetris so I started this game from scratch.
If you get a long blue piece, put it in the "hold" area with the space bar and try to build a wall with one missing column where the blue piece will fit. Then when the challenge comes up, you can switch out for your blue piece and drop it in the open column and it will clear four lines. This will do the "exactly four lines" challenge for you, and give you a great head start for the 5 and 6 line challenges.
The only problem with this is if it's the "exactly three line" challenge--if you do four lines, you don't get the reward. You can try to leave a space open on the top line so that if this challenge comes up, you will only get three lines when you drop your blue piece in. Otherwise, if a four or more line challenge comes up, you can fill the hole in the top line first when the challenge appears, and then drop your blue piece to get four lines.
In between challenges, you could go back to clearing lines one or two at a time for a little bit, or you could start building a wall again right away, but you have to be careful not to let the wall get too high before you fill the empty column or you will end up with an empty column that is hard to fill. I think the timing of the challenges varies, so it makes it difficult to guess when to start building a big wall for the next one. If I build my wall right away after a successful challenge, I find that I have to clear it before it gets too big, and then the next challenge pops up right after I clear it and it's too late. Maybe when I get faster it won't matter as much
I have started making it to the higher levels, but like others I abandon the challenges after level 8 or 9 because the pieces fall too fast to worry about wall building!
Hope this helps! |
