I have no idea how to play bamboo break

i dont know how to play bamboo break and the instructions make no sense to me... can someone explain this game to me? and ps i have not played the game tetris. ???

Do you see the 5th picture in that guide? It's after the 4 pictures that have the instructions, and it has a board with pieces in it and three red arrows that are pointing to different areas of that board...(pic I'm talking about can be seen below)


Look at the red arrow to the right, that says "building a channel".
See how there's an open space at the bottom that doesn't have a block in it? You need to fill up that open space with a block (they will drop down from the top) to clear that line off of the board.

OK, see where it says "Bamboo Left" at the top of the picture? That's how many lines you have to clear off of the board to go to the next level.

The pieces under the word "next" are the pieces that you are going to get to drop down from the top, in that order. In this case, the straight blue one will drop first, then the purple sideways "L" one, then the yellow one, and so on.

The "hold" tank is where you can hold a piece until you need it. You use the spacebar to access that, but if you are not familiar with the game, my advice to you is to not use it until you are more confident with playing the game.


The controls that you need to be able to play the game are the arrow keys on your keyboard. The up arrow key changes the position of the block that is falling. The left and right arrow keys move the block left or right. The down arrow key drops the block faster.

Just keep in mind....you need the arrow keys and you're making a "wall" that stretches from left to right across the board...once you do it, it should be relatively simple, but it's the getting started and figuring it out that's the tough part. Just post again if you still don't understand.

thanks so much for the info, i just dont get one more thing, do u have to make some of the bamboo go away, and how do u do that?

When you say "do you have to make some of the bamboo go away", I'm assuming you are asking about the bamboo on the game board? Are you talking about the big pile of bamboo is in that picture I posted above?

If that's what you are asking, then yes.

Here's the main thing: The whole object of the game is that you are trying to get rid of bamboo. The bamboo is the stuff that's falling from the top, as you know. The bamboo will fall from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen, and you need to line it up using the arrow keys on your computer to make a straight line going across.
I was trying to make a box to show you, but it wouldn't let me.
If you still don't understand, though, let me know and I'll try to explain it step by step.

Go up and look at the picture I posted in one of my posts above that shows the actual game board.

Look at the bottom row (going left to right) of bamboo, which is all different colors. It's at the bottom of the picture. Going across (left to right) the colors on the bottom row are (excuse the caps coming up, I wanted to make that part stand out...lol): light blue, light blue, orange, purple, red, red, green, yellow, THIS SPACE IS WHERE THE HOLE IS AND THERE IS NO BAMBOO, blue.

That's a line/row. That is the line/row you are supposed to make with the falling pieces. So it's what...10 pieces of Bamboo going across. That is also the line that will disappear once you make it, because keep in mind, that is the object of the game. (to clear those lines/rows) When you are told to "Clear a line" or "Clear a row", you have to make a line going straight across from left to right, and have it touch both ends of the game board with no spaces in the line. That's how it clears itself from the board.

That is what the "line" looks like....those colored pieces of Bamboo that I told you to look at above.

I think this is one of the best games to get the hang of even if you are totally confused initially.. I couldn't even get past level one at first, now I am winning bonus chips and making it almost through the whole game! If you keep playing around with it you will get better at it quickly, so don't give up!

thanks everybody! its all makin sense to me now, but just one more question, do the lines have to be the same colour or can they be different colours and still disappear?

The lines can be different colors as in the picture I posted. The only thing you have to worry about is getting the bamboo to connect from left to right.
