I finally won a PP tournament! ^_^ So I got excited and decided to write down my own personal 'rules' when playing. (one more strategy thread can't hurt! )
Cardinal Rules for Pizza Palace:
DON'T make pizzas out of order! If it can be at all helped, resist this urge! Making a pizza out of order will only confuse you, and likely cause you to put incorrect toppings on the rest of them!
DO upgrade your shoes (first!)!Some upgrades cause confusion, but getting to things faster can only help! This is the easiest upgrade to make, as you can afford it at the end of the first level. Don't worry, with the shoes, you'll probably have raised enough funds at the end of this level to afford something else. DON'T upgrade your dough-maker (until there's almost nothing left to buy!): buy another one instead! By having 3 dough-makers, you can potentially have every type of slice (quarter, half, whole) on hand!
DO upgrade your topping-station! Upgrade first, THEN buy another one, since it's much more confusing to have two, and this upgrade is really worth it- tops pizza's MUCH faster . Eventually, however, you'll need to have two (one upgraded, one not) when your ovens are full and you could be using your stand-around time more productively.
DO save up for a second oven! Unlike the topping station, buy a second one first BEFORE upgrading. Faster cooking time is a good thing, but it doesn't help much when you have a whole pizza taking up an entire oven and holding everything up! After you HAVE a second oven...
DO upgrade at least one oven!Faster cooking time will only cause you to get pizzas to the customers faster!
My recommended order of upgrades: Shoes, second dough-maker, upgraded topping station, second oven, third dough-maker, second topping station, upgraded oven...and then I don't think it matters much from there. =)
Of course, after all that, it's really all about how you, personally play the game. ^_^ Anyone else have their own "rules" they try never to break when playing? | | | | 01-17-2009, 07:24 PM | #2 | Sallz Gift Guru Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,091 | Re: Rules to never break in PP! Harlequinn's rules are sensible, but I used slightly different ones. I won a lot of tournaments when I was playing Pizza Palace, and I upgraded my dough maker, my oven, and my cutting board before I bought new ones; I added another cutting board before adding an oven. Judging from other posts on the PP threads, you can upgrade in several different ways and they all work just fine. I agree, though, that shoes are crucial!
You need to learn to use the upgrades strategically: if you have a pizza with three toppings and one with one topping, try to remember to top the one with three toppings on the upgraded cutting board and use the regular cutting board for the one with one topping. You also can move pizzas to a different cutting board. There's one level where I had to start a two-topping pizza on the un-upgraded board (another pizza was finishing on the upgraded board), but I moved the two-topping pizza to the upgraded board when I could because it got topped faster.
I agree that it's best to prepare and cook the pizzas in order to avoid being confused, but I also deliberately made one pizza on level 15 out of order because it was a whole pizza with three toppings, and that was the only way that I could get through the level.
At the higher levels, one of my rules was to take orders from three patrons at a time (since you have three doughmakers and three cutting boards): if you expose all of the orders, it is easy to lose track where you are.
Hope these supplements help the Pizza Palace fans! :ccat: and a green floral fox | | | 01-17-2009, 07:53 PM | #3 | (V)!_!(V) crab Webkinz :) Join Date: Dec 2008 Posts: 12,697 | Re: Rules to never break in PP! Thanks so much for your post. It helped me a lot, considering that I never get past level 7. That game seems super easy from the beginning, and then it gets really hard. Rep points for both of you guys! Thanks a lot for your help! | | | 01-18-2009, 03:30 PM | #4 | You wish you were a Webkinz :) Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 900 | Re: Rules to never break in PP!
