"Duped" Items

Hey guys, I did a search of WI to see if there is a thread already up for this discussion, and I did not find one. I really hope this discussion is not verboten.

I have seen references to "Duped" WKW items on several Webkinz forums. (eg. "my item is not duped - I won it.") They imply that several people are trading priceless and popular items that were "duped" (duplicated). I have a vague idea of how this could be done, but my concern is that I do not want to trade for one. I do not want to support the practice of "duping", and I would like to assist in stopping this if it can be stopped.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Is it real? If so, is Ganz doing anything about it? If so, is there any way we can tell real from "duped" item.

If it is not real, where are these rumors coming from and why are they being touted about?

the only duplicates i know of are the ones that come from the estore. the skater kat trophy came out as a replica, the elephant statue, ice cream tree, gold safe, blue dragster. they cannot be sent by kinzpost. it may be a scam offering to trade them, but knowing they can't be traded.
like the scam"give me your rare now and i'll mail yours to you later" those are the only things i know about

Although I have not heard of this in ww before I have heard of it in other online gaming sites. I used to play an older (but still around) multiplayer game and it was not uncommon to have people "dupe" items of value. So yes it does exist and if it can be done for that game I imagine someone could do it for ww as well if they had the knowledge to do so. Sadly there was no way to tell the difference until the company (for a lack of a better word) went through and deleted them.

I want to say though that I REALLY doubt it is happening in ww. And I'll tell you why.

1. The people who did this in the other game did it for real money profit. Back before ebay changed their rules on selling virtual items the dupers would sell the duped items for profit. There is no real profit for ww dupes.

2. The company that ran this other game was very lienient with their rules and didn't follow up very often and honestly didn't do a lot to prevent it.I think Ganz is better then they were.

3. WW is a kids site.Although there are many adults here it is still known as a kids site.Therefore Ganz has a bigger responsibility to keep it safer and I think will be watching better. The other game was a teen/adult rated game.

There are a few more reasons but honestly I am tired lol and I think those are the main ones.

In short...can it be done...yes. Is it being done? Probably not.

The reality is yes this is happening, and yes there is profit to be made...not on ebay, but another auction site "******" has been allowing wkw items to be sold for profit for quite some time.

As for Ganz, they are definately aware.

Their saying, is it possiable to duplicate ww items, meaning is their a way to double an item. Yes, i have seen this before, sites saying that you can duplicate an item with a cheat code. I don't cheat so i would not know if it is possiable to do so. But i do know that their are people giving out "codes" that cheat.

i think ive heard of this before, but as a cheat for webkinz in a cheat video. (dont ask why i was watching the video) it says when you bring a item to the refresh button and then you log off as soon as you let go of that item it will be dupilcated the next time you get online. i didnt feel like trying it know that cheats could get you banned so im not sure if they just made that up. so it could be a rumor.
