Well, what I did was I switched to a pet in the middle of my vacation (I was already on the island, so he got no boost) I rocked the boat got a ghost, then I left and came back, thinking I would get all my happiness back. I didn't. I got 15 back. He was at 100 hunger so I had to play lots of quizzyz... Great tips though!

My pet Leia was also scared by a ghost yesterday. I think I got her up to 10 before I had to log out. Once the server test is done, I will try the academy. I stopped doing that for a while (my interest comes and goes)

The easiest way to get Happiness back up is to sit your pet in front of the TV. Just leave that window open. Your pet should giggle every few minutes and you'll notice the Happiness points zooming back up.
Just open another window to do something else while your pet recovers... for free! and without any effort.

This works the best if you have the patience to wait till the end of your vacation to rock the boat. I've been doing this for months now, and I say months since I am still looking for that treasure map.
