pirate costume and souvenirs question

i have not taken a vacation yet but have acquired the pirate sash, pants and shirt in trades. is it hard to win these item on rock the boat and are they random, do you get the fools gold more often than the pirate clothing?
am i better off hoping for a trade for the item i need than to invest 500 on a vacation in hopes for randomly winning the rest of the costume?
i also need the model jet plane and wall anchor the other items i have also acquired in trade. if i take a vacation will i only be offered 8 item at random during that trip and no others. and i can only pick 3 for that trip. my question is do they change hourly or the 8 item will stay the same for that trip?

The 8 items should stay the same for each vacation but I have had items change if the vacation goes past midnight.

I've onlly been on a few vacations and have never won any pirate clothing. I did get the Pirate Hat & Eyepatch....by trading!

I've gotten cash and fool's gold more often than clothes on the ship. The souvenir shop has only changed a few times when I've had a vacation. Usually it stays the same. If it does change I think it changes overnight, but I'm not sure!

The pirate clothing and maps pieces are hard to come by when you rock the boat. To be honest with you the vacation really isn't worth purchasing if all you want is a couple of items from Sheldon.

Yes the items will stay the same for the entire 24 hour period that you have your vacation.

I personally do like going on vacations, the random parties in the coral cove have raffles that you can win items that you cannot get anywhere else. Check out Canonymous' thread to learn everything you need to know about the parties.

The souvenir shop has changed items while I was on vacation. That's why I wait and see what else he has to offer at a later time.

I have taken 3 accounts on vacation daily,.for allmost weeks now. besides fools gold,.I mostly get kinz cash. Most times it cuts my price of vacation in 1/2 as I get th 250 on the wheel. I have a gotten a few odd items on the wheel. (mostly conch shell, or plastic palm tree!) I really want a tiki torch. I won one of them when the vacation spot first opened. I managed to only obtain one article of clothing, pants. Tons of fools gold,.sometimes I get 50 kc,.and have seen the ghost 3 times! Funny the 3 times I saw the ghost was on all 3 accounts in the same day! I have 1 piece of the map.
I am pretty bummed out by the chances of getting the good stuff,.but I have extra kc to burn so I will continue for another week I think. Most of the stuff I did obtain clothing wise was from trades. But I will say I just got lucky with the trades. Sometimes my tradeing experience in the trade room can be frustrating. taking up more time than it is worth to find a decent trade.

I have never had much luck with the Rock the Boat game. I've gone on vacation about 25 times. However, I have won two pirate shirts, seen the ghost twice, but mostly get the "fool's gold". (I think you're better off trading to try to get these items). I get the umbrella hat and plastic palm ALOT on the wheel. But I have won one tiki torch. It seems like Sheldon usually sells just one set of eight items in the souvenir shop when I've gone, however I will try to take a vacation that times out over two days and check back after midnight to see if the inventory changes (thanks for the tip!). I did have two accounts go on vacation on the same day one time, and Sheldon's shop was closed the whole 24 hours! (Not very happy about that?) I'm doing a beach theme room and the souvenirs look great in there. I've never won anything at a party raffle except food, but I've only been to about three of them. I will try the thread in the quote above to see if I can have better party luck!
