Are rare or exclusive items worth more?

I trade a lot in the trading rooms, but somehow I feel like I've gotten out a lot more than I've put in. *edit* I really don't want to take advantage of the kids in the trading rooms, so I'm thinking that maybe the rare items really are worth more than the exclusives? There are so many times that I offer an exclusive item for trade, and am told, "no, I only want rare"
I just can't figure out if, generally speaking, rare or exclusive items are more valuable.

In general, I think people believe that exclusive items are more valuble. Just take a look at the WIGEV, it will tell you.

Thanks, I looked at the WIGEV (why didn't I do that first?!) Now I feel kinda bad. I didn't even put in any of the good rares. But why are people so insistent then that they want rares and NOT exclusives? I think that the exclusives are better. After all they can't be bought, not at any time for any price. It's hit and miss to get a rare, but you can buy them.
What should I do about people that don't seem to know the value of what they're trading?

for some people it's not value. it's about the item they want. if i really wanted a retired pet item, i might be willing to trade good stuff for it just because i want it. some people just like to trade. not wanting or needing anything, just fun to do

i traded the wooly mammoth psi (a mammoth post) *edit* and i've been kicking myself ever since. But that's life in the trading room.

I think it depends on whether or not the exclusives and rares are new or old. For exclusives, retired ones are more valuable, but I think people tend to value new rares over old ones. At least I do.
