To zap or not to zap

OK, so we all know that the game is currently not working the way we would like, but we can still start a discussion on game strategies and tips.

I enjoy playing as a way to build my cash. It is possible to win 70 to 100 for each player if you do it right, every game.

The thing is I don't like to zap people. If you zap me for no reason at all, then I will most likely not play a second game against you. I know it is part of the game, but I like to use the game to win cash, not to intentionally take money from the other person.

I do zap people if I am losing. If you will the game you get like an extra 15 or 20 kc. If zapping someone prevents them from winning and allows me to, I think the KC makes up for itself.

Maybe it is just me, but it seems like everytime I use the three eye droppers to zap the other person, it seems to work against me. The other person will end up with 4 in a row and an extra turn or else they get a bunch of 3's in a row. I really don't see where you profit from it. Besides I just think it is mean.

Maybe I am just too nice of a player and I don't see a reason to do it. I would prefer get points by taking the colors the other person needs to beat me than to zap. When you zap it gives you no points and lowers one of their totals. But they usually make that up on their next turn plus more and you have done nothing to advance yourself.

I used to feel that way about zapping before, then I started to think that it is a part of the strategy of the game. I had to think of it like jumping over the opponents pieces in checkers. The softy in me will not zap if there are other usable options available. But, if the opponent is one who zaps for the sake of zapping, then I'll zap freely too. However, I do agree that it often comes back to "bite" me, where I end up setting up a four of a kind for the opponent.

My question for the group: do you try to prolong the game by not hitting the winning move so that you can earn more $KC?

Sometimes I prolong the game if it looks like the other player is not going to win right away, and very little KC has been earned so far.

I don't tend to zap unless I am playing against a person who is "zap happy" then i'll surely defend myself from it. I'll do my best to make other moves or even make a move that will "destroy the zap" if at all possible. I don't like playing against chronic zappers, its just annoying. I feel a lot of people who don't know much stratedgy use the zap more often because they don't really know how to do the combo moves yet?
I think you are right though about it working against you, when you are zapping someone you might be taking their points, but you aren't making any points for youself either. I almost always win games against those that are zap happy.

Zapping is when you get the three pipettes lined up together and use it against an opponent. The result is a flash then the loss of points. My son calls it "dropping the bomb" on someone and he calls the four in a row play that gets you another turn the "four smacker" lol

Yes I'll prolong a game if I think its going to be a while longer before someone wins or i'm playing against an obviously new player.

I like it when I run across someone you can tell is playing for points, because, as the other gal said, you can make a lot of money on this game if you do it right.
