I play within the rules, but I play to win, and I expect my opponent to do the same. I will not quit the game if I am losing, however.
Two things to keep in mind, especially those of you who have perfect internet connections, fast computers, and no distractions: First, not everyone can manage KinzChat. Sometimes I find that the buttons aren't even there to make it work. Don't take it personally if someone does not want to chat. Second, a great many technical or personal issues can cause a person to inadvertently quit a game before it is finished. For me it's usually a lockup or one of my little ones suddenly needing full attention. For me, it's never careless. | | | 08-28-2009, 08:54 AM | #22 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 562 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette To me "throwing a move" is cheating because you are forcing a player to take a move that will possibly result in a bad end for that player when the move was YOUR TURN TO MAKE. An example of this is throwing a move because you want to have the board reset for yourself and not your opponent, or the move will result in your opponent getting "zapped" instead of you. You cannot forfeit a move thats not beneficial to yourself IRL when you play most games in RL, why is it ok for this game? To me, your turn is simply that, your turn. | | | 08-28-2009, 08:57 AM | #23 | Banned Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 3,408 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette i hate when people stop in the middle of the game | | | 08-28-2009, 08:57 AM | #24 | Banned Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 3,408 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette by the way nice thread | | | 08-28-2009, 09:01 AM | #25 | Oddmeister Gift Guru Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 9,123 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Yesterday right after I posted, I felt in the mood to play a game; my first opponent quit after the very first turn, proabably because I was fortunate to get a 4-in-a-row! | | | 08-28-2009, 03:17 PM | #26 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Nov 2008 Posts: 202 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette I understand getting booted, it happens to me from time to time. Chatting isn't a big deal for me either. Making a move that doesn't create a match never really seemed like a big deal to me, either... your loss, my move.
Being zapped doesn't offend me, there are times that none of the combinations benefit you (say only in colors you already have 12 of) and the only option to avoid losing is to zap the opponent to avoid their getting to 12 on their last color... but zapping doesn't give kc, so it only gets used by me when it will give an extra turn, or prevents the immediate end of the game in the opponents favor.
Honestly the only two things that really annoy me is a) quitting a game one move into it and suggesting a different game, and b) quitting a lopsided game you are losing and then ask to be my friend. Anything inside the game that the game allows is fine by me... I like to see people play to win.
Just my humble opinion (JMHO)...
A question I've wondered about is this:
If your opponent is clearly outplaying you (whether by a skill level mismatch or just the beneficiary of a "perfect storm" of balls dropping fortuitously), do you prefer they end the game asap, or continue to pad their kc by making matches that don't end the game quickly (giving you a chance to earn kc as well)? Or does it make you no difference? | | | 08-28-2009, 05:09 PM | #27 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 562 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette [QUOTE=Hoosier-Daddy

Or does it make you no difference? I don't really mind either way. I enjoy playing the game; a few more minutes isn't a problem, and like you said, I get to earn more KC as well. | | | 08-31-2009, 02:44 AM | #30 | Gifted Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 673 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette We'll just have to agree to disagree on whether or not throwing a move is "cheating". If the creator of the game didn't want players to have that option, he could have made it where throwing 2 moves in a row would make you lose the game...but he didn't. If you time out 2 turns in a row, you DO forfeit the game. Seems to me the option of throwing moves was included in the game intentionally by the game's creator. Like I said before, the game is limited to a total of 50 moves, so player cannot create a stalemate by repeatedly throwing moves; after the 50th move, the player with the fullest tubes wins. | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
