I was playing and on my opponent's first turn, he/she had a great run of moves. The turn ended with my opponent needing only 2 more green atoms to win. I thought there was no chance that I would win the game but I took my turn anyway. On my turn, I went on a similar great run of moves and ended up winning the game. As many have said on this Atomicolicious forum, you never know. | | | 08-05-2009, 05:13 PM | #12 | ebkinz Insider Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2009 Posts: 1,467 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette I'm not good at this game in the arcade but I still play almost daily because I enjoy it. I played it once in tournament and could never get the knack of seeing my move and then what my opponent would do. I went back to playing it alone to improve.
This may be the WI stupidest question of the day... but what is zapping? | | | 08-06-2009, 12:02 PM | #13 | Gift Guru Join Date: Sep 2007 Posts: 1,632 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Originally Posted by home50 This may be the WI stupidest question of the day... but what is zapping?
Perfectly OK question. Never hurts to ask. Zapping is when you execute a 3 or more combination using eye-droppers and that move takes away colored atoms and Kinzcash from an opponent's test tubes. | | | 08-07-2009, 11:01 AM | #14 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 547 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Have any of you noticed that its hard to get a game since the last update? I still haven't seen the rain either. Most of my games are timing out even though they appear that they are going to load into the game. __________________ Jennie | | | 08-07-2009, 02:24 PM | #15 | bubbleteapot Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,847 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Originally Posted by Jeninfla Have any of you noticed that its hard to get a game since the last update? I haven't been able to play a single game all day. And I've noticed that after each attempt, my phone is turned off, so there must be a glitch that turns off the phone after you try to play a game. __________________ Chocolate started it all! | | | 08-07-2009, 02:44 PM | #16 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 547 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Ritz, thats just what is happening to me too, the phone goes off. Then it tells me the phone is one when i try to turn it back on. I have been able to get a few games this afternoon though. __________________ Jennie | | | 08-20-2009, 03:04 AM | #17 | Gifted Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 604 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Well, I'm going to spin this the other way. First off, I agree that you should never quit a game, it is really annoying when somebody quits when you're off to a good start or when you're a move or two away from winning. Not as annoying as when you're bowling the game of your life and your opponent quits, but that's a whole different story. I also agree that a player adds insult to injury when he/she quits and then makes a friend request (or asks for a rematch), but that's about where our opinions part ways.
First off, this is a game of strategy. If using the "zapper" is the best strategic move, GO FOR IT! Don't be mad at your opponent if he/she zaps you; blame the guy that invented the game if getting zapped sticks in your craw, because he's the one that decided it would be an interesting addition to the game. It's usually not in your best interest to do it (unless it's 4 in a row or starts another combination) because it doesn't get you any closer to filling your test tubes. If the other guy wants to waste his turn, more power to him...and I'll gladly give him a rematch if he wants one after I finish him off. And if he beats me? Well, then I guess it was a pretty good strategy after all. It's nothing personal, I'm shocked so many people take offense to a move that is totally within the rules and spirit of the game.
And speaking of things that are totally within the rules, what is the big deal about "throwing a move"? Where is it written that this is cheating, as was suggested in a previous post? If there is only one move left on the board, and making that move would likely cost me the game, why WOULDN'T I throw a move to try to salvage the game? The suggestion that a player could feasibly lock up the game and cause a stalemate by repeatedly making illegitimate moves, thereby causing his opponent to quit, doesn't hold water...the game is limited to 50 moves, whichever player has the fullest test tubes at that point wins the game. So, if I have, say, 12,12,12, & 11 in my tubes and my opponent has 12,12,12, & 9 and the only move on the board won't fill my final tube but it will give my opponent a winning move on his turn, it's just GOOD STRATEGY to make a false move. I'M the one in the driver's seat in that scenario, it's incumbent upon my opponent to make that final move and hope for a miracle. To make that final move when I know it's going to cost me the game makes no sense. Do I like it when somebody does it to me? No, because I dont like to lose. But I don't let it ruffle my feathers, because in the end, it's not cheating and it's nothing personal...it's just good strategy. | | | 08-22-2009, 12:55 PM | #18 | Lil Kinz Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 5 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette Originally Posted by beano1964 Well, I'm going to spin this the other way. But I don't let it ruffle my feathers, because in the end, it's not cheating and it's nothing personal...it's just good strategy. I completely agree with you. I was reading the previous posts and wondering who made up these rules. In general, I don't like zapping or getting zapped and I won't use it unless it's my only move or it's a 4/row move. What IS annoying to me is when the person has many moves and chances to fill their tube but will zap just because they can. It seems silly to me, especially when I have maybe 3, 3, 0, 0 LOL What is the point? To me they just wasted a move, oh well.
I'm fairly new to the game and new to this board (2nd post here). I find many opponents very childish in their 'quitting' if you got too many good moves at the beginning. I realize there are many children playing but talk about poor sportsmanship.
And as someone mentioned before, don't zap me at every move, make smiley faces then ask me for a rematch. heh | | | 08-22-2009, 01:10 PM | #19 | Miss You Grandpa Gift Guru Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 18,987 | Re: Atomicolicious Etiquette I never quit on people just because they are winning !! I am always willing to have a rematch unless I know I have to leave WW, in which case I will say "Thanks for the game" just before it ends so they know I did appreciate the game. I don't zap unless it brings me specific other 3 or 4-somes or is the only move left on the board. Having said that, sometimes my moves can cause a zap to come onto the board - but it wasn't a move I selected, merely random chance. I will not become friends with people who quit in mid-match and I don't go to another sort of game with a player unless we finished at least two Atomicolicious matches. Then I feel it's nice to let them play a game of their choice, particularly if I have been winning. | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
