I think a better idea would be a scanveger hunt type thing. You would have a list of clues or riddles and you have to slove them. They could be different rooms in the clubhouse or different places in WW. once you slove them you go there and a halloween creature is waiting to give you candy, if you get them all you get a prize.
I mean that's how trick or treating works. you got to the candy not wait for it. I would also be a good activity for parents to do with their children and would get them thinking about how to slove the riddles. none of the silly waiting that is happening now. | | | 10-30-2009, 07:46 PM | #52 | Diabetes Awareness Webkinz :) Join Date: Oct 2009 Posts: 558 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? I think people are confusing time consuming and challenging. Challenging is fine - but not the time consuming thnig that this ghost hunt is. A challenge (geared for the children, not for the adults) llike the scavenger hunt mentioned above would be good for the older children, and a chance for younger children to bond a bit with a parent or sibling while being helped through the challenge.
I also like the idea of riddles leading you to different areas of ww to get to the next challenge or riddle, maybe gettting a piece of candy at each stop. Yes, some will whiz right through it, but it will insure all have a chance to complete it, even if their chedules are very full and they cannot spend hours at the computer.
And if part of the idea is to get people who do not use the clubhouse more aware of it, then make some of the challenges things like "find the reading room and read a book," or "find the super chef room and make a recipe food." With cookbooks available at the w-shop even those who do not cook and do not know where WI is can still do it, and all the players will gain some familiarity with different parts of webkinz world while without having to sit around twiddling their thumbs in rooms that bore them.
Just some thoughts on how to improve trick or treating next year. And I do hope they do trick or treating next year, allowing us a chance at another pumpkin. Just a better, more interesting, challenging, but not time consuming nor boring event. I know Ganz can do better, I hope to see them do it! | | | 10-30-2009, 09:03 PM | #53 | Gifted Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 401 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? I know Ganz can do better, I hope to see them do it! you elaborated perfectally, on my idea. it's just not fun sitting waiting for the ghost. I get that they want to limit the amount of candy you get, but a better idea would be you can get candy every time the ghost shows, but when your basket is full you have to wait 3 hours between each time, making it not so hard to get the prize, but not too easy to get lots. | | | 10-30-2009, 10:07 PM | #54 | is a very lazy Webkinz :) Join Date: May 2009 Posts: 1,014 | Re: Trick or Treat? Sorry it took me so long to reply, but these are both such absolutely excellent ideas, I have to give you both rep for your creativity!!! I can tell you that my kids were excited about it when they first heard about it. But with all we had going on in real life they didn't have hours to spend on the computer. They have 2 computers they share between 5 kids and they do have to share. They all have different games and things they like to do during their time and none of them wanted to spend so much time waiting for a ghost. When they got on they would check and wait a little but honestly lost interest really fast. As did I. By the time they announced they would release the ghost every hour..none of us cared.
So in the end...not one of us got a single piece of candy. And we are all okay with it. lol I hope they think of something different or better for next year. | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
