Are kids enjoying it???? Perhaps the programmers at Ganz are really young and hip and don't actually have kids yet. To say this is tough is an understatement. It must be hard for them to imagine a family with 4 kids all vying to win a prize. I'm not gonna lie this Mummy ofcourse wants her pumpkin too. While I am delighted that we can actually be involved in something and not have to shell out more real cash, ganz has gone overboard on the difficulty of something designed for kids. The three hour window and lack of ghost tracking ability is BORING, combined it with alittle whining it's becoming unbearable. I had the good fortune of getting 2 pieces today at 9:30 for 2 of my kids but know I can't get any for my 2 boys or myself. I can't image trying to fit this into our weekly schedule it's to time consuming. Good thing the lap top is right next to the treadmill I can get in a 5 mile run and ghost bust at the same time. Fingers crossed I'll have a hauted encounter before we leave for church . I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with mixed feelings about this new activity. | | | 10-25-2009, 02:26 PM | #12 | I'm a Shabby Chic Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2009 Posts: 1,976 | Re: Trick or Treat? Getting NO ghosts is NO fun. Also, having to wait several hours before trying again is NOT realistic.
What is fun is going into the clubhouse, seeing a ghost, getting logged out, trying again and again and then giving up? Or going in, finding a ghost, getting logged out and MAYBE getting candy, and then have to wait three hours to try again. I know in three hours my child will be not allowed on the computer again to wait on a ghost and then have only a few opportunities in ONE week's time to collect 12 pieces of candy.
WHO at Ganz designs these "festivals?" They are SORELY out of touch with parents and with children. My son USED to be all about WW, but every time these types of things happen he just gets less and less interested in WW. This is about the worst of all. Trick or treating is terrible. Why cant they just have you do once a day OR visit every clubhouse room to get a different treat. Why does i have to be SO hard and complicated? Why not make it educational and have a little scavenger hunt around WW to find the treats. Make it OBTAINABLE for everyone, not just for people who can design their lives around being on WW 24/7.
I'm sorry to be negative but we have spent a fortune and WW over the last few years. We have every animal (besides the cheek dog and cheeky cat) they've ever put out, kinz clips, ornaments, charms, estore items, every series of trading cards, etc. etc. We've been BIG fans of WW and if it weren't for the local store who buy the WW from, I would be done. I kee buyng Webkinz to support them. Half of them dont even get put online anymore since my son has really gotten fed up. I hate to toss away such a HUGE investment, but there has to come a time where you stop throwing money into something that is no longer fun OR even obtainable for reasonable people.
I hate to turn this into a gripe and be a downer, but I believe Ganz is bringing this on all by themselves with their complete disdain for its users and customers by not paying an ouce of attention to what they would like to see happen in WW. I'm not sure when to tell my local store that we're not really going to be buying anymore webkinz, but it will be happening soon. They are sealing their own fate with regrettable ideas and implemetation such as this. See, I absolutely agree with you! Stay positive??? How? Have fun??? Kids cannot and SHOULD NOT sit on the computer for say 6-9 hours in a day to get three pieces of candy. I'm sure none of them actually sit there waiting, but the whole idea that everything has to be SO DIFFICULT is annoying, even to me as an adult. Someone said in an earlier post that one of their accounts never wins anything big. Same here. I have been spinning the wheel of Deluxe on THREE accounts since it came into being and have only gotten food. I never get anything but 20KC on the wow, I get only bananas on the yum, I have needed two stars for over a year, and quite frankly, I don't even try anymore. I am about to quit doing the magical forest because I only need two charms on the fairy falls, and have been trying for about six months to ge them and can't, so it is just getting tedious, not challenging. As far as I am concerned, some of this stuff actually sets kids up for FAILURE. Not a good lesson! | | | 10-25-2009, 02:45 PM | #14 | Gift Guru Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 7,755 | Re: Trick or Treat? To be honest, my kids gave up on the 'fests' on WW a long time ago. They got so frustrated they would cry. I would try to do my best to help them out during the daytime, and after they went to bed, but even I wasn't having much luck. They have gotten on once or twice this weekend total....they are just done and hate sitting on here in those clubhouse rooms (and on their rumps) for hours on end. Especially since one can't go in and out (to different rooms) w/out missing a chance at the ghost. They can't go into their rooms, because the ghosts aren't there either. Sorry, but sitting around playing 'go fish' for a 'chance' that never seems to materialize isn't fun.
I just HAPPENED to go into the clubhouse once and saw a ghost. Then my computer froze up. And half the time when I go into the clubhouse this weekend, it locks up and I have to exit WW altogether.
Ganz does this with almost EVERY 'freebie' they have...it's a struggle for so many people to even get one or two items (I am happy for those of you who've gotten lucky with the fests, but none of our seven accounts seem to fall into that catagory). Now watch, on the last day of the ghost thing, they will 'extend' it or something. Maybe not since Halloween is the 'end' date. But Ganz seems (to me) to want to keep us locked on the computer for hours...just hoping. And then they 'throw us a nugget' just as we're ready to get off the computer...and we hang around a little bit longer...just in case.
I wrote Ganz today. I told them that being a bit more generous with EVERYONE would go a long way. My kids already don't do ANYTHING on their accounts, save for Zumwhere, at this point. I go in every day and get all their dailies done, their hourlies if they aren't around, and make sure their pets are at 100%. We've got Deluxe too, but that's only fun for a while....
Sorry if this is negative or slamming Ganz....but it's how I feel right now. My kids will eventually stop going in altogether and I'll be stuck keeping all those accounts up until I can post all their stuff to my accounts....and their little virtual pets will be lost forever. Which upsets me after we've spent a TON on all of them and the 'stuff' that goes with them. I try to be understanding of Ganz, but they HAVE to know how the programs work....they HAVE to run tests and pre-tests and all that to make sure it's set up properly.
Why don't they get it that kids aren't lumps who sit around the computer for hours and hours? My kids don't - they are outside or playing around the house. I am just disappointed that the 'fun' of this ghost doesn't seem to be extended to EVERYONE in WW. Just sad for my kids. | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
