Are kids enjoying it???? When I first heard about the "trick or treating that was going to happen in the clubhouse, I thought "Oh, how fun, especially for the kids" because I, personally, don't want to collect candy. We don't know what the end prize is, but no matter, kids would love this concept! Now that I have just watched and read the posts on here about the whole thing, once again, I have to ask-WHAT IS GANZ DOING?????When you go trick or treating your mom doesn't make you wait three hours out on the sidewalk before you can go to the next house and get a piece of candy! No kid in their right mind would enjoy that! Well, how many kids do you suppose are enjoying yet another disappointing "fun time" courtesy of Ganz. Since I am not personally invested in this, because I realized the futilityof it all in the first hour of reading others posts, I can truly say I am thinking of the KIDS, not adults. If adults want to play just to track and find and maybe get a prize, fine. KIDS should be able to FILL THEIR PUMPKIN CLEAR UP WITH CANDY!!! No matter what the end prize, don't you think it would have been more fun to let them find TONS of candy and say after you fill your pumpkin 5 times, or 10 times, or whatever, you will win a super prize and then give the kids tons of chances to see the ghost??? This just makes me so frustrated!!! It is beyond me how Ganz can do this to kids. Good grief, no little kid is going to get this accomplished. Maybe if they had given everyone the entire month of October they could have, but I doubt that. I haven't found a rare gem since I got to the point of needing only rare gems in three months! I used to find them all the time before Doug! It seems that, once again, Ganz is being stingy with "pixels" Oooooh, can't they just make something HONESTLY JUST FUN????? | | | 10-25-2009, 06:16 AM | #2 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Nov 2008 Posts: 319 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? My daughter spent most of yesterday ghost hunting & didn't get any candy. I also feel that this will be almost impossible for the children. They have school & homework during the week. I really hope they change it. It is a great idea IF they can make it work. | | | 10-25-2009, 06:48 AM | #3 | Gift Guru Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 7,755 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? My son had a blast yesterday. He was in the dark blue reading room playing games and saw the ghost and received candy. He did this on all of our accounts, it was fun to see him get spooked.
So be positive, be patient, and most importantly Have Fun!!!

I spent several hours waiting for the ghost on two accounts yesterday. I saw him once. Not much fun, but I REALLY liked the noise he made. I sure hope I hear that again! | | | 10-25-2009, 10:14 AM | #5 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 4,475 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? Happy Ghost Hunting!!!
I'm glad to hear SOMEONE'S child is having fun. My son was VERY disappointed that every time he tried to play a game in the clubhouse while waiting, halfway through the game it would freeze up an he would have to quit WW and start all over again. Getting NO ghosts is NO fun. Also, having to wait several hours before trying again is NOT realistic.
What is fun is going into the clubhouse, seeing a ghost, getting logged out, trying again and again and then giving up? Or going in, finding a ghost, getting logged out and MAYBE getting candy, and then have to wait three hours to try again. I know in three hours my child will be not allowed on the computer again to wait on a ghost and then have only a few opportunities in ONE week's time to collect 12 pieces of candy.
WHO at Ganz designs these "festivals?" They are SORELY out of touch with parents and with children. My son USED to be all about WW, but every time these types of things happen he just gets less and less interested in WW. This is about the worst of all. Trick or treating is terrible. Why cant they just have you do once a day OR visit every clubhouse room to get a different treat. Why does i have to be SO hard and complicated? Why not make it educational and have a little scavenger hunt around WW to find the treats. Make it OBTAINABLE for everyone, not just for people who can design their lives around being on WW 24/7.
I'm sorry to be negative but we have spent a fortune and WW over the last few years. We have every animal (besides the cheek dog and cheeky cat) they've ever put out, kinz clips, ornaments, charms, estore items, every series of trading cards, etc. etc. We've been BIG fans of WW and if it weren't for the local store who buy the WW from, I would be done. I kee buyng Webkinz to support them. Half of them dont even get put online anymore since my son has really gotten fed up. I hate to toss away such a HUGE investment, but there has to come a time where you stop throwing money into something that is no longer fun OR even obtainable for reasonable people.
I hate to turn this into a gripe and be a downer, but I believe Ganz is bringing this on all by themselves with their complete disdain for its users and customers by not paying an ouce of attention to what they would like to see happen in WW. I'm not sure when to tell my local store that we're not really going to be buying anymore webkinz, but it will be happening soon. They are sealing their own fate with regrettable ideas and implemetation such as this. | | | 10-25-2009, 10:47 AM | #6 | LikeRain Webkinz :) Join Date: Aug 2007 Posts: 650 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? I think this is a good thread, because I think Ganz does listen. They try something, and they try to make it better when there are complaints. I imagine the 3 hour idea was to keep the clubhouse from being overloaded all week...you get candy, you go away and give others a chance, you try again later. Good intentions gone wrong, I think. Because I thought the same thing as I'm waiting...you don't wait to trick or treat! You go go go!!
It would have been good, I think, if you could collect 12 kinds of candy, maybe a different kind in each room of the clubhouse...and then once you filled up your pumpkin you couldn't get more. That would give others a chance to get in...but also make the collecting NOT be a week long ordeal of waiting, but just a fun game.
I had the same experience as others. Games freezing up that I try to play while waiting...my whole computer freezing when I see the ghost. I managed to get one piece of candy early on, and thought this was going to be okay. Then more hours of trying yesterday and nothing. Then an hour or so on this morning...and I saw the ghost...and my whole computer freezed up and I got kicked out and I actually CRIED! I'm a grown woman and I CRIED!! I'm laughing at myself right now, of course...but yes, I imagine for the kids this is really more like punishment than fun. And Webkinz is supposed to be the opposite of punishment!
I am also glad to hear that some of you are having fun...I really am! And the truth is I'm stubborn and I am not giving up...I will have my 12 candies and my prize! But I surely hope that Ganz can make some adjustments before the week is out...like when they adjusted the leaves to fly faster.
Thanks for being a place to vent! Good luck everybody!! | | | 10-25-2009, 10:52 AM | #7 | Whooo hooo Gift Guru Join Date: May 2007 Posts: 3,830 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? I feel they made a terrible mistake making this a timed feature. No one does that in real life. Come on Ganz just let the kids jump from room to room to collect. Sometimes I think in Ganz's efforts to make everything difficult and not easy, they miss the opportunity to actually add fun. When things are this difficult they become frustrating for young kids, they lose interest and walk away from the whole thing. I would never encourage children to sit in front of the computer for hours to complete this task. They should have set it up for one day where you could go anywhere and he would be there, pick up your candy and go somewhere else. Not everything should be so difficult Ganz. Relax a little and let the kids just have some instant fun for once. This is not negative, its constructive criticism on an activity that I feel was not made kid friendly enough. We love WW, but sometimes they miss the point with certain things. If I had set this up, I would have made it to where you actually got a candy each time you visited a new room in the clubhouse. That is much more realistic. And you can only visit that ghost in that room one time ... there are enough zones this would be possible. This is much more fun. My daughter tried to find a ghost yesterday and didn't and has given up. when I told my younger son about this activie he said it sounds to hard and he doesn't even want to try, They in their 2+ years have probably caught 5 leaves or snowflakes combined. So it's up to mom to try and find all 12 pcs of candy for their accounts, plus their brothers account and my 5 accounts | | | 10-25-2009, 11:15 AM | #9 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 4,475 | Re: Trick or Treat? I just don't understand why they need US to tell them how to run and event and how to make it fun. It has been this way from the beginning. They have consultants and testers and focus groups and then they implement these "fun" events that are NO fun or DO NOT work. It has been this way for years and I'm getting completely fed up. I also am of the opinion that after having many familmy members inside my household AND in other states that there are GOOD servers and bad servers. One family member and myself have one account that NEVER wins big on anything. It has gotten to be a joke. I mean playing every single day for two plus years and NEVER winning the big wishing well prize, getting recipe food or the smallest amount of KC every super wheel, lots of gak and bananas and stuff like that on every other wheel, never winning the throne in the constellation, etc. Its just gotten to be funny. Some people have great accounts and always win the best stuff, complete the charm forests, etc. I have one that skews that way as well.
Anyway, I hope, but am not holding out hope, that Ganz fixes this feature and makes it so that kids can trick or treat and get all the candy sometime before Halloween. | | | 10-25-2009, 11:46 AM | #10 | meganmonkee Gift Guru Join Date: Sep 2007 Posts: 6,087 | Re: Trick or Treat? Are kids enjoying it???? Well, we all have to remember, GANZ is trying something new. There are always downfalls, and glitches. I personally think this is a fun way of trick-or-treating. If I just won the food, I'd really care less. Waiting three hours for a piece of candy, that's a little boring. ut GANZ is doing something similar to the Caring Valley trees, and Christmas trees. We can design our own pumpkin when we're done. I think by the end of the week, GANZ will have these glitches, and problems fixed, and children will begin having more fun. My little brother enjoyed himself, and he's not a little 5 year old, he liked the noise, and just seeing the ghost. He was so excited.
We have to remember that GANZ does this to try to make WW a better place, not the erritate us. They came up with the website many of us take for granted, because f the silly glitches along the way. I know that many kids and parents don't like the trick-or-treating, but if you really don't like it, then you don't have to waste your time Just go play a game in the arcade of something.
This is just my opinion. I like that GANZ is for once doing something on WW where we can design something, without having to pay real money to do it.
JMO (Just my opinion)
