Hello my leaf watching friends
i come to you with a story to help you pass the time!
this is the story of a girl who got a webkinz elephant for christmas 3 years ago. the gift was opened the elephant was hugged and sat on the girls lap for the rest of the day. sadly the next day the girl got very sick. she had a high fever and was stuck in bed mostly sleeping for the next week. the webkinz elephant never left the girl as she hugged it while she slept.
now you will be happy to hear that the girl did get better, the fever went away and she rejoined the living world
once she was feeling better she looked more closely at her elephant friend and discovered that is was a pet that she could addopt online, who would have thought of such a thing! this was really cool! excitedly she sat at the computer and followed the directions. she named her elephant Ellie. and so the addiction began.
this wonderful world of webkinz that had been discovered, was a lot of fun! new things were being discovered every day, gems were being found, jobs were being done, lots of w shop stuff was being purchased. games were being played in the tournament area and friends were being made... although it was kind of hard to make friends really, because if you made a friend in the tournament area, you would never see them on at the same time as you again.
one day as the girl was playing with ellie in her webkinz house and this snowflake floated across the screen. the girl thought it was pretty as it passed by and she just watched it float away..... the next day there was another flake that floated on her screen and this time she wondered what would happen if she clicked on it. so she did, and wow! to her amazement, she was given a painting of a polar bear on a sled to hang in her room! wow! what a cool gift
so the girl hung the picture in her room and looked at it whenever she played with her pet. later that day the girl saw another snowflake on her screen, so she clicked it again. thinking that she would get another print to hang on the wall, she was plesantly surprised to get a peppermint snowflake. discovering that this was a food that she could feed to her pet, she fed it to Ellie and was happy to see that ellie liked it and thought it was yummy.
that was the last flake that the girl saw, but she felt lucky to have gotten such a wonderful gift! the peppermint snowflake made the girl start to wonder about other foods in webkinz world. she had a stove and had made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the sandwich maker... but were there more foods that could be made? so the girl did an internet search and after a while found a website that was a forum for webkinz and had some other recipes on it. the girl was hooked, and that is how the forum addiction began. from the original forum and many other smaller ones in between.
so now that girl sits (lol, the girl is me in case you haven't figured that out yet ) with 5
ww windows open in the hopes of catching a leaf or 2. and she remembers what it was like to feel the joy of catching her first snowflake. the polar bear print still hangs proudly on one of the countless walls in her webkinz house, as a reminder that this is a fun game designed for kids and adults who like to have fun. it isn't about catching a million flakes, or leaves and having lots of items that may one day retire and be worth a good trade or two...
its about having a good time and being surprised and thankful for that one leaf that floats accross your screen just when you aren't expecting it
