Behind the Scenes of Kat and the Webkinz (Part 1)

KKF originally did this, and Sara did it too. Both of you are awesome people! But before KKF thinks I'm a mean copycatter ( : P ), FREE AD! Go check out her thread. It's AWESOME!

I'm mostly doing this because I've been asked how to do this at least 13 billion times.

Note (March 10): Please note, that WI keeps on changing, and currently the single-post window does not work right now in March, and I did this in February. Remember that this was done Feb. 2009, and WI will keep changing its features. You can still click on the post number for something, but yeah. If a feature changed and if you need a solution, drop me a PM.

"I keep on getting asked how to do all this. A LOT."
"I have an idea! We can do a Behind the Scenes special!" Taffy exclaimed.
"OK."
"Gimme your camera," Taffy said.
"Then what do I use?"
"You're old camera," Taffy said.


"Here you go."
"Let's go!" Taffy exclaimed.


TO MAKE A REAL-LIFE UPDATE!

Position your Webkinz the way you want them to.


Take a picture.


Get out the memory chip, or the camera wire connecty thingy, or whatever you need to get them pictures onto the computer.


Plug the memory chip or whatever into your computer.


NOTE, I AM ON A WINDOWS XP SYSTEM. WINDOWS VISTA IS SIMILAR, BUT IF YOU'RE ON A MAC OR SOMETHING, I AM SORRY BUT I CAN'T HELP YOU.

An "AutoPlay" window should come up. Click on the button with the camera and wire picture on it. (The one highlighted in this picture.) (If you don't have AutoPlay enabled, there's a thingy in your My Computer thing. Click on a bunch of icons until you find the one that directs you to your thing that holds your pictures.)


And, go through the Wizard.



(Be sure to check off the Delete Picture of Camera After Copying thing.)





Wee! It's done!


Next, if you have a memory chip, put it back into the camera.


And then I would plug in my camera battery!


UPLOADING TO THE INTERNET, THEN WI.

Next, go to PhotoBucket, and make an account if you haven't already.
(Q: It asks too much personal information!
A: I have 3 accounts and faked all information with each one.)


I normally use the Bulk Uploader because I tend to take A LOT of pictures.


Then, find your pictures, click on them, and hit Upload!


Then, just let it run!


That means it's done!
(You don't have to add tags and that junk.)

Behind the Scenes of Kat and the Webkinz (Part 2)

Click on your username to go back to your album.


Next, go to your thread.


Go to add a reply.


Write in the title.


Then add the caption.


When you're done typing the caption, press the Enter key.


Then, go back to your PhotoBucket album, and click on the Direct Link thing of the picture. (And right-click, copy if you're not using FireFox.)


If you're on FireFox, a click and you'll see this yellow box that says "Copied."


Then, click on the button my mouse is on back at WI. (Looks like a yellow box with a gray sun and gray mountains.)


This window will come up. Right click, then paste.


And the URL will be in the box! (If it doesn't come out to be your URL, CALL THE SPYWARE DOCTOR! YOU HAVE A VIRUS! If it's that "http://" thing, you accidentally copied that from the box.)


Click OK, then your picture will come up in the post.


Press the Enter key twice. (If your picture disappears or it won't work, click the picture, then press the arrow key, then press the Enter key twice.)


Then, wrap it up, or do the above steps again to post another picture.


Then click on "Post Reply."


Yay! Your update is now on WI!


To get your update in a single post in a new window, click on the number my mouse is over.


See! It's in a single window!


To get a link that directs you to that post, first you click the Edit button. (I think you have to be Gifted to do this, but I don't know.)


Then click "Go Advanced."

Then click on Save Changes.


Then go to the URL thing. And right-click, copy. (My mouse is on it.)


Then post it in a URL code!
(I'm just showing what the code is. If you can't see it, and need to see it, PM me.)


TO MAKE A VIRTUAL UPDATE

Go on Webkinz, go to your room, and zoom in if you'd like.


Press the Print Screen button. (Or PRT SCR)


Go into your Graphics program. (I use Paint.NET, but you can just use Microsoft Paint.)


Go to Edit, then Paste.


Your screenshot! Now go to the tool which looks like a dotted square or whatever. (My mouse is over it.)


Then draw a box over what you want the picture to be.


Go to Edit, Copy.


Then go to File, New.


Then File, Paste.


And there it is! Just save, and go to PhotoBucket, and blah blah blah.

And this SHOULD be a good guide of how to do it.

I also apologize of the quality. I made this with my old cam. Taffy wanted to use my new one.
