Why is my second pet not getting fewer classes?

My first pet has finished all the way through level ten of style class, but has not finished any other class. I thought my second pet would get a class discount in style now--I have read that it is the orginal number of classes minus the level (eg: level one= 5 classes - 1class; level two + 10 classes - 2 classes; level three = 15 classes - 3 classes etc). Well, now my second pet is on level three of style and I noticed that it says that my pet has to do 16 classes to get to the next level (yep, 16 for some reason!)

What is wrong? Does my first pet have to graduate completely before my second pet gets any class discounts?

You definitely earn the discount as soon as any pet completes a class.
Is this the off by one level confusion? Your pet has completed level 3 but is actually working on level 4. So that would be 20-4 = 16? Were you near the end of level 3 when your other pet completed? When you get the discount it never subtracts more that the number of classes you have left to complete a level minus one. For example if you were due a discount of 3 classes but you had 3,2,or 1 classes left it would always show you with 1 class left to complete the level. Some people hold pets back if they know a pet is about to complete a course so that they take advantage of the full discount. You can never complete a level by earning a deduction because it always leaves you with at least one class.

Okay, I feel really silly, but that is exactly right! Thanks to you--I just figured out that the pet actually finished level three and is now on level 4, and thus 20 classes - 4 classes = 16 classes. So the pet is getting the discount after all.
