[GUIDE] Kinzville Academy

Kinzville Academy has come to Webinz World! KA is a place where your Webkinz can take classes to learn new skills. Only ONE of your pets needs to pass the classes for ALL of your pets to gain access to the skills, so pick your smartest Webby and let's begin.



Meet Ms. Cowoline, the School Superintendent. She's who you need to see to sign up for class and to check your report card. Her explanations are very helpful, so take time to listen.



Click on the Sign Up page to begin. From here you will be able to view the courses that are currently available. There are two categories of courses you can choose from: Basic and Talent.

Basic Courses

There are six basic subjects listed on the sign up sheet.

Strength Training: Weight Lifting



Speed Training: Running



Creativity Training: Painting



Agility Training: Track & Field



Intelligence Training: Language



Style Training: Fashion



Talent Courses

There is currently only one Talent Course available at the Academy.

Grooming: Hairdresser



Each of your pets is allowed to take up to three different classes per day. Once you select a course, you are given three options: You can try out the course up to three times for free. You can pay $50 to take the course. You can pay $250 for a tutor.



I strongly recommend using your free tries for each course before you pay to take it. That way you can figure out what the system is asking you to do before you waste your hard-earned KinzCash. You're allowed three free tries for each class before you have to do it for real.



Remember, only one of your Webkinz needs to pass a course for all of your Webkinz to acquire a new skill. I recommend picking one main "student" from your family to attend school. More of your pets can attend school. According to the on-line guide: "Every time one of your first 4 pets completes a course, the number of required classes is reduced for your other pets!"



The tutor option doesn't actually hire a tutor for you. It just automatically gives you a pass for the class. Your report card looks exactly the same as one from someone who actually took the course. You are able to "hire a tutor" for all levels of each class except for the very last one. So, you still have to learn the skill somewhere down the line to be able to pass the final level of the course.

Weight Lifting



In Weight Lifting class, your Webkinz is required to do a certain amout of "reps" on the weight machine in a certain period of time. You accomplish this by clicking and holding your mouse button to lift the weights and releasing the button to lower the weights. The two green areas on the machine are the top and bottom points you must hit as you go up and down. These points will move with each attempt, so you must watch the screen carefully. Do NOT allow the weights to drop all of the way to the bottom.

Running



In Running Class, your Webkinz is required to run at a certain speed for a certain period of time. You accomplish this by moving your mouse in small circles on the "Power Spinner" to make your Webkinz run. Keep a close eye on your Speed Meter. You want your Webkinz speed to match the speed in the Target area. For every second you spend in the Target area, the Goal heart will fill up a little more. The Target area will move, so keep a close eye on it. If you drop out of the Target area, the heart will stop filling. You need to get the heart completely full before time runs out.

Painting



In Painting Class, your Webknz is required to copy a Painting Goal that has been hung on the wall. You accomplish this by using a contraption that looks a lot like the old Spin Art machines. First you select the Table Speed. The faster the table spins, the more spread out the paint will be. The slower the table spins, the paint will be more concentrated in the middle. You select your paint colors from the palate using a dropper. The dropper allows you to select a little bit of paint or a lot of paint. Then you use the dropper to drip paint on the spinning canvas. Once you complete your masterpiece, click on the word "Judge" to have it scored. A number score will be assigned to your art by the computer based on how close it is to the Goal. It doesn't have to be perfect for you to pass, just close enough.

Track & Field



This course seems to be pretty straight forward. Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, you make your Webkinz run down the track. When your Webkinz approaches a hurdle, use the up arrow to make him/her jump over it. If you run into a hurdle, you have to start over. If you run into three hurdles, you fail the class for the day. According to the guide there are three sizes of hurdles, but on level one, I only saw the smallest hurdle. When you cross the finish line your Webkinz will jump and flip for joy and blow you a kiss.

Language



This course is a little bit like a word puzzle. Several words will appear on the left side of the chalk board. Each word will have one or more letters that don't belong. On the right side of the board are rows of squares, the same number of rows as words on the left side. Each of those rows of squares has one or more squares filled in. You match up the words on the left with the squares on the right to line up the letters that don't belong with the squares that are filled in. You do this by "drawing" an arrow using your mouse pointer.

Fashion



This course has more to do with memory than fashion. One at a time, models walk down the runway in front of you sporting different Webkinz World fashions. I spotted many KinzStyle items, but most clothing seems to come from the W-Shop. After the model leaves the runway, you must remember what the model was wearing. You will be given a few options for each item and 30 seconds to figure it out. Level one only deals with shirts and pants, but the pictures included with the instructions seem to indicate that glasses, shoes, and hats may be used in higher levels.

Hairdresser

In the first level, you have to obtain a score of 10 or higher and it is based on how closely you make Plumpy's hair style to the picture and how much time you do it in. They give you a good bit of time to get Plumpy ready. You can also refer back to the picture of Plumpy's new style up to 5 times durring your alloted time period. Hint - they only give you the items that you will need.

Your Report Card

Your Report Card will show you how you have been doing in school as well as how much more work you need to do to complete the course.

Fluffy took three classes today and passed them all.

What Passing the Basic Classes Gets You

There are ten levels for each Basic class. When you pass level five for each class your pet will learn a new Action that can be accessed on the Action tab on your dock. Keep in mind that there are multiple classes in each level.



Each class trains your pet on a specific action:

Strength/Weight Lifting = Stamp Foot Back Flip



Speed/Running = Roll Over

Agility/Track & Field = Jump

Intelligence/Language = Hide Eyes

Creativity/Painting = Blow a Kiss

Style/Fashion = Dance

Virtal badges are awarded to you at the completion of each level of a course. You can view these badges on your report card.



When you complete level ten for each course, your pet will recieve a special bonus. This bonus is not revealed in the guide, so we'll just have to wait until someone gets it to see.



When you complete all ten levels of all six courses, your Webkinz will be awarded a diploma:

For the weight training click and hold the mouse until the weight gets into the middle of the top green box, then let go of the mouse button until the weight drops into the bottom green box and then click and hold while the weight goes back to the top green box again. You will repeat holding and releasing the weight to do the reps.
