I have found that many people are confused about competitions in webkinz world. This guide should be helpful to you. These tips are based on my experiences, as well as some others on WI. If you do find some information that doesn't seem right or if you would like to add something please post to let me know! I want this to be as helpful as possible but, if some of the info is wrong then it might be misleading. Again, this is just what I have experienced so I might have missed something. I am open to any suggestions! Thank you and ENJOY!



1. Kinzville academy classes only matter if you are planning to enter pro.

Since we've all seen chipmunks, toucans, bats, ect. place in the top ten it seems that a pet's training doesn't matter. My little sister's pet placed first in an open cooking competition with only up to level two in creativity. So, high levels at the academy don't promise you wins.

2. To enter pro cooking competitions you must be level 5 in creativity NOT cooking.

I know some pets who have never taken a cooking class and they have placed first in pro cooking. So, if you want to train your pet for pro just start creativity. The cooking class is just a waste of kinzcash.


3. There is a secret to winning!

The secret to winning is to enter, enter, enter! You can't place if you don't enter and if your pet doesn't have high levels enter anyway! The stadium is all about luck. It's like the quick draws or Wacky's bingos.

4. Kinzposts are misleading.

Like the placings, kinzposts give you random placings that do not make sense for your pet's academy levels. Inexperienced pets can place higher than ones that have been doing the academy classes since the begining.

5. If you are in the lead in your group of five, you place.

When you view the competition, you are shown with four of the top ten pets. Even if some score lower than you, you'll only place if you are in the lead. Also, if your pet cooks/walks down the runway twice(if they are scored twice, this does not include the recap) this means you are in the lead and that you will place.

6. Pro competitions are easier to place in.

Since less people are able to enter there is a higher chance of placing. You may not get as much kinzcash but, you get a chance at a trophy!


7. Cooking with your pet at home/washing your pet will not increase your score...it will just waste your time!

I've been trying these strategies for some time now. Sometimes they work, other times not. There are people who have given their pets baths and then they place very high. I'm still trying to find a pattern in this. Maybe the winning is because of a change in routine. Maybe you prep your pet for the competition and you give them a bath when you usually don't. I know I gave my black lab a bath once and the same day I placed first in open beauty. But, then I tried the next day and I got a score of 10! What I'm trying to say is, if you win it most likely isn't because of the bath. There is a reasonable argument here though. If you have placed on the same day of giving your pet a bath please post. I want to see how many have/haven't. This way I can clarify the info.

8. Once you place it is easier to place again.

Getting used to seeing a lot of repeat winners? Happens all the time right? Well, that could be you. Once you place for the first time it will increase your chances of placing again. You can even place twice in the same day! I know when you first start out it can be very frustrating. There can be 30, 50, sometimes even 100 straight entries without a placing. But, once you get your first there will be more where that came from.


9. Buying products from Ganz may increase your chances of winning.

Only after I bought trading cards and registered them on my account, did I start placing. Once I started registering kinzstyle clothing my black lab placed first in open beauty. So, there may be a link. This is just something that has worked for me. I know of some great competitors who don't purchase products and they have been doing great in the competitions. So, it may work for some. There maybe a link between purchasing trading cards and placing in cooking competitions.(pending more research) As for beauty, I recently entered a code from a christmas figure and I placed the next day. (items for winning beauty still discreet, researchers working to solve problem...more info needed.)

10. If you are tied with another pet but, you're not in the lead then you haven't placed.

11.Check your pet's health, hapiness, and hunger!

Momwhoplays likes to have her health, happiness, and hunger meters at 100 before she views the competitions. She takes her pets to the spa before or after entering. I do that too. I've never entered the stadium without checking my pet's meters. This seems to affect the competitions, the pets who have their meters at 100 may win more.

12. What to wear, what to wear?

Momwhoplays says dresses work best for her. Even if the judges can't see them, they will still count toward your score. Her gorilla Mama G placed first in open wearing a kinzstyle dress and charm forest tiara. I have never tried the dresses on the runway. I do wear lots of kinzstyle clothes though. So, the kinzstyle clothing seems to work best in the beauty competitions. This doesn't take away for other pieces of clothing, the kinzstyle just seems to work best. The webkinz crown of wonder is a good piece too. I won first place when wearing it and Momwhoplays agrees! Please note! dresses/skirts/shoes on hopping pets don't show up in the stadium. This however, doesn't deduct from your score. The judges can see your clothing but you can't. The scores are random anyway. Just a cute animation to add to the fun.

13. A little bit on scoring.

The judges scores are just a cute little animation. The only thing they tell you is if you are in the lead. The scores range, this is how it works.

2-3 is a low score (You will hear a little clapping and some awws from the audience).
4-5 is an okay score (You'll hear a medium amount of clapping and some noise).
6-9 is a good score (You'll hear a lot of clapping and cheering).

The judges have never given a score lower than 2 or higher than 9. So, the highest score a pet is able to recieve is a 27, 9's across the board. The lowest score, for some reason, is a nine. Which is a 4, 3, and 2. In beauty padgents your scrores are hard to guess because you don't know if your outfit is good or bad (To the judges, of course). In recipes it is easier to tell. If your pet fails a recipe two things can happen.

1. You will recieve one good score and two low scores.
2. You will recieve one good, one average, and one low.
Other pets that fail recipes can get very high scores and even be in the lead but, this has never happened to my pet. We always have to succeed to place.

As for if you succeed in a recipe, scores can be everywhere. I haven't found any patterns yet.

14. Active pets compete

When the competition is in entry stage you can choose one pet to enter. This pet can be changed with the arrows provided on the entry "form" lets call it. That means your entry does not have to be your active pet at that time. However, when and if you plan to view the competition the pet you entered must be active. Meaning in the little box at the left hand corner of your screen before you enter the stadium. If you forget, no big. Just log out and back in again. Then switch your pet to active, you'll be able to view the competition (including your pet this time) again.

This has been metioned a few times by others in various forums. But, it was brought to my attention by xoxoflower07. A big thanks to you!

Please feel free to post your kinzpost placing letters. Please include what you have placed, which type of pet you entered and the entry type(pro or open). Also, if you were in the lead and didn't place post a pic. I'm trying to solve these problems using a larger group of people, instead of just my accounts. Please, please, please post! I can't figure this out without some input. And thank you so far to those who have pointed out my faults. I'm trying to give good information and if some of it doesn't seem true I want to know! Thank you for the info, do you know the kinzpost info is random or just a feeling?

Twinzkinz, I do know that the kinzposts are random. I've been comparing my main account to three of my other accounts. My main account has all of my well trained pets, many of them are on levels 8 and 9. While my other accounts have pets that are just starting their training. The pets with less training most of the time out place my experienced pets. This doesn't make sense to me. Also, I've been looking for a pattern in the kinzposts...with no luck. So, they seem very random to me.

Just wondering if you had anything to go on. It would just be easier to to send out the letters if they had the actual ranking rather than rerandomize for everyone with the exclusion of the 1 to 10 placements. I totally agree in the randomness factor of the winner but it seems like extra effort to rerandomize the posts but it is just programming so who knows for sure. The only real way to get a decent comparison would be to get as much information from a specific event and cross reference it against the pets abilities,and animal type. This would be a huge task and probably would need a huge number of supporters. Assuming 4 accounts entered into that event you would probably need at least 250 people who would be willing to help populate that events statistics. (assuming an attempt to make sense out of an open event).

It maybe easier to attempt a comparison on a pro level event, being only 1000 entries, but it will still have the challenge of needing lots of input from everyone.

That is very strange...hmm, everyone I know had their pet be in the lead before they placed. Do you have any photos? Was your pet in the box that said "MyPetsName is in the lead" Because then you should have placed...that really puzzles me. Well, there are always new discoveries.
