My Zums happiness is not changing much either. Personally I don't mind, as I am getting zummies anyways. The update is suppose to have made getting parties harder, and it has. But at least we don't have to have parties now to get zummies.

I have not yet had a party since the update, so I cannot advise you how to get one. But for zummies, just keep playing with your Zums and they will give you zummies.

Well they did say the'd changed the diffuculty level, so you have to be prepared.
