How to Make your Zumbuddies Love You !!

Since the update the Zumbuddy system has changed and so has the way we take care of them. I decided we needed a simple guide that explains the care of these darling creatures.
I hope you all find this helpful in you quest to take care of and earn zummies from your Zumbuddies.

Getting Started

When you buy your Zumbuddy you will first need to enter your code in the code shop. It will unlock the door to Zumwhere.

Once inside you come to your room.
Your Webkinz pet will show in the background.

When you start your room will be empty, except for your Zumbuddy. You are given a few zummies (40) to start with but to furnish your room you will need to earn more.
Here are the instructions...

Your Zumbuddy likes to be tickled....but not too much or it will get upset
You can tickle your Buddy by simply clicking on it.
I suggest up to 4 times. I usually do 2 or 3 tickles at a time.
You may retickle your Buddy after they complete an activity (eating or playing)
Different Buddies have different sounds.
My Tricky Zum giggles like a small child while my Bratty Zum purrs.

Symbols

There are basic mood symbols that the Buddies have.
There are a smily face, a bratty face, a sleeping face, a pink heart, and a musical note.
These just show their happy mood.
Once you have more than 1 Buddy in a room you will also see duel faces, a surprised face, a winking face, and a question mark. These are how they communicate together.

There are 3 "no-no" symbols.
One symbol you don't want to see is the No symbol (circle with a line through it). The other is a sad face. These mean you didn't do what they wanted.
The other is a sour face which means they are upset.
Don't try to tickle your Zum after these happen or your happiness level will drop alot. Try to make them happy again by offering something like food or a toy.

They will let you know when they want something by showing the item above their head.

It may be a particular toy or food or it may be a general toy or food symbol. If it asks for something specific then you need to give it that specific item. It wants it quickly or it will be unhappy.
I suggest keeping your zum dock filled with at least 2 of each item available.
When I run low I purchase more so I don't run out.
If you have more than 1 Buddy I suggest you keep about 3 of each item for each Buddy in the room.
(ex. 3 buddies = 9 of each item)

If it shows a general symbol (a group of toys or a knife and fork) you may give it any of that certain item. I usually choose whatever I have the most of.

Drag the item from your dock and place it directly on the Buddy asking for the item. If you just sit it in the room it may not take it or another buddy may go over to get it.
I have found that if they are asking for a certain item you can place it in the square 1 block directly in front of them and they will move up to take it. (This is very helpful if your Buddies are in the same square.)

After feeding or playing your Buddy may award you zummies. You will know because the color and amount of the zummies given will show beside them.

If you have more than 1 Zumbuddy in a room they will sometimes share a toy. This is very cute and although the cost is more to have more than 1 Buddy, I am not sorry I have 2. I think it is charming.

Happiness Meter

At the top of your room you will see a magnifying glass. Click on it and then place it over your Buddy. It will bring up their Happiness Level.
Click on the magifying glass once more to put it back.

Once your buddy reaches 100% there will be a party in your room with balloons and confetti.
If you have more than 1 Buddy in a room they all must reach 100% happiness to have a party.
But note that the more Buddies you have in the room the more zummies you'll be rewarded for getting them all to reach 100%.

Ganz has fixed the ability for Parties to happen so go and enjoy the fun !!

Your Buddy's happiness level is reset everyday back to 50%.
This means that if you got it, to say, 90% you will lose that when you start playing again tomorrow.

Playtime for Your Buddies

You will get a room for each of your first 5 Buddies upon adoption. Then you will receive another room with the 10th and every 5 Buddies entered after that.
To see all of your rooms click on the Rooms button.

To move your Zums together click on the Move Zum button on their Happiness Meter, then select a room to put them in.
As of now there can only be up to 5 Buddies in 1 room at a time.
Get ready to play !!
You must keep a diligent eye when you have more than 1 Zum in a room. Each one will ask for things....sometimes at the exact same time.
This is why it is so important to keep your Zum Dock full.

If you should ever need a break or you need to buy items hit the Edit Button.
This will place your Buddy on hold for you and also let you move furniture around your room.
You Buddy may lose a little happiness by doing this but you will gain the happiness yourself for the much needed break !

Buying Items

You buy the food and toys with your kinzcash.
Click on the Zshop button to go shopping.

You buy Furniture and Decorations for your Buddy's room or Prizes for your webkinz home with Zummies.

You can see your zummie count both in your room and in the Zshop.
You will need to have enough of each color of zummies required to purchase a specific item. It will remove that exact amount from your total.
Remember you MAY earn Zummies by giving your Buddies toys, feeding them, or having a party in your room. It is not a guarantee you will earn them every time.
The more you play the more you get !!

**The Rainbow Sprayer is the least expensive toy (6.0 KC@) to fill in the time when your Zumbuddy is not asking for a specific item followed by the Floating Balloon (6.25 KC@)**

You can also save KC when 2 Buddies play together. If they share a toy both can be happier for the price of 1.
The toys they can share are the Pie in the Sky (7 KC), Zoomin' Truck (6.67 KC), Soccer Ball (6.43 KC), Rainbow Sprayer (6 KC).

Decorating Your Room

Now that you have bought some furniture you can put it into your room by clicking on the Edit Button.
You can move the placement at anytime by also doing this.

When you get alot of furniture remember to leave room for your Buddy to fly around.
There is a box at the bottom of the screen to show what % of the room that you have furniture in.
If you look at the picture below you will see it says 22% for the 22 blocks the furniture has taken up.
(Decorations do not count toward this total)
Not sure yet how high of a % is too much. Most people are saying about 75-80%.

Here is what mine looks like at the moment.
Once I get enough zummies I hope to get furniture into both of my rooms.

I would love to see your rooms once you have them done (or near done). Please share with us your lovely decorated rooms !!

Making your Zumbuddies Sleep and Sit

You can make your Buddy go and sit on a piece of furniture or lay down to sleep in a bed by :
1. Click on your buddy
2. Double Click on the furniture you want it to go to.
3. It may take a few seconds but it should fly and sit/lay down.

Taking Your Buddy into Webkinz World

You can take your buddy into Webkinz World to be with your pet and their friends.
You can see the Buddy with your pet either in a room in your WW House, going to the Kinz Chat Clubhouse, or (someday

) going to the Kinzville Park.

Drooler with Zalo

To get your buddy to fly beside your pet you must
1. First go to one of the above areas.
2. Next you have to click on the Zum Face by the Dress Pet area of the screen.

3. Click Show all

4. Select a Buddy

5. Now you can switch buddys by clicking on the yellow arrow at anytime.

6. X out and go show off your Zum !!

To use a buddy with another pet you need to switch pets and repeat the above steps.

Tips and Tricks

*If your Buddy is flying let it be. You may tickle it if you would like. Try not to give it a toy while it is flying. I have lost too many toys trying to do this.

*If your Buddy hasn't asked for anything in awhile give it a toy to play with when it is standing still. The toy you choose is up to you....just make sure to place it directly on the Zum. They just might reward you with zummies !!

*Keep your Dock filled with a supply of each item available. If you run out of something and need to buy more just click on the Edit Button to pause the game while you shop.
I have also found that you have a quick minute when all your buddies are busy with toys to be able to pick up a couple things you need from the shop. Just be quick about it.

*Make sure you have enough kinzcash to properly care for your Zums. You can seaperate them into different rooms if you are finding it hard to keep up with several of them. You only pay for the items you use with the Buddies you play with.

*Don't forget to feed your Webkinz Pet while you're playing too.

*If you have 2 buddies in the same block (will look as if one is directly in front of the other) and one asks for something place the item 1 block in front of the asking Buddy. If you try to give it directly you run the risk of the other zum taking the item or being mad.

Questions & Answers

1. Q: What is the item that looks like an orange cannon ?
A: It is the Rainbow Sprayer. Note: It is the only item, so far, that does not resemble the actual item.

2. Q: Is anyone else have a major deficiency in one particular zummie color ?

A: Yes, this happens. Some days you receive more of one color than another but after a week or so they should all even out. Also when you buy items it may take most of a certain color and not many of another. This can also contribute to the lack of a certain color.
Prizes are blue zummie oriented so that tends to be the most needed color once you buy alot of prizes.

3. Q: Do the different types of Zums have different personalities or actions ?
A: They all react and have the same basic actions. They are different on how they look, sound, and there are some slight character traits. They are all pretty easy to love. Pick the ones that you like best !

4. Q: What are the names of the different Zumbuddies ??
A: Series 1:
Pink Giggly Zum is Zool
Blue Lazy Zum is Zlock
Red Zippy Zum is Zed
Yellow Peeking Zum is Zana
Purple Tricky Zum is Zalo
Orange Bratty Zum is Zoola

Series 2:
Giggly Zum is Zuzu

5. Q: What if I cannot earn zummies even with a ton of parties ?
A: You must still be stuck in the old system before the update. What you need to do is clear your internet cache. (Delete browsing history & remove cookies) When you log back into WW you should have the newest upgrades.

6. Q: Why won't the Prizes I bought with my zummies go into my Buddy's room ?
A: Prizes go into your WW Pet's room not your Buddy's room. This way all of your pets can enjoy a piece of Zumwhere !

7. Q: Can I sell the furniture or decorations from my Zumbuddy's room and get my zummies back ?
A: No. Once you buy items they are yours. If you don't want an item in your room you can put it in your Zum Dock for storage.

8. Q: Can I trade the prizes I buy from the Zshop ?
A: Yes. Prizes you buy can be kinzposted or traded.

9. Q: What does the Music Note stand for ?
A: It is just a happiness symbol. Just treat it like a smile or any other happy symbol. You can still feed, tickle, or give it a toy if this symbol is showing and you won't lose happiness. I like to think that my Buddies are singing !!

10. Q: Can you have the same type of Buddy on 1 account ? I have 2 Zlock the Lazy Zums.
A: Yes. They will be impossible to tell apart and will both be named Zlock but it can be done. Identical twins with identical names.

Just a note:

Series 2 of the Zumbuddies is scheduled for release in February of 2010. If you are having trouble finding them now.....fear not. It sounds as if there will be more to choose from !!

There is nothing at this point suggesting the retirement of any of the current Buddies, but it could happen.
Since these are so popular I think Ganz is just stepping it up to try and give us more on the racks.

Great layout of the information. I wanted to mention that you get rooms for your first 5 zumbuddies. Then you do not get any more rooms until you have gotten your 10th zumbuddy. Then it is every 5 zumbuddies that you get another room (15, 20, etc.).

Thanks for the update !! Still a work in progress.

I was working on it and my computer has gotten a bug in it and it keeps pulling up bad websites.

I don't know why my antivus didn't stop it. Now I have to concentrate on removing it instead of finishing.

If you are unsure what to give your zum, and it has not asked for anything, here is what we do...

We choose our toys by the motions they make. So far, I categorize 5 motions (with the new updates).

1. Dancing, usually starts out with notes over the Zums head and then they move back and forth and turn. It is best to just leave them alone while they are dancing. But I have clicked on them, and they giggle - but don't do that too much or they get mad.

2. Floating/Flying in Place. Toys I use are Balloons & Kites.

3. Motion includes Jumping up and down. Toys I use are Unicycle, Big Bouncer & Bouncy Ball.

4. Motion includes Flipping Over. Toys I use are Juggling Balls & Soccor balls.

5. Flying around the room. Toys I use are Paper Air Plane and Pie in the Sky. This one you have to time right to place the toy directly on the zum, so I sometimes just place the toy as close to the zum as I can.

Be sure to place the item directly on the zum. They are more likely to take it and use it. And with food this is a must. I have put what they ask for in the room, and they totally ignore it. But if I place it directly on the zum, it takes it and is very happy.
