[DAWNCLAN, VOLUME ONE: the beginning... of the end]

Hey guys!

I'm updating the front page right now and need you to tell me (on the thread, please) how many WARRIORS, APPRENTICES, KITS, QUEENS, and LONERS you have so I can add them to the total cat count. I'm not going to keep names up any more, just the count - but what I'm thinking is that I'll keep a list of thread members in a spoiler at the bottom of this first post. Er, scratch that bit. I'm a bit unsure of how I'll be doing things. >_>;;;

Things have been quiet since I got back... I finally got around to writing that post, too! Yay!

the role-play news

She has returned... the trees whisper her name, the birds sing it, and all around watch for the elusive white cat known as the Wanderer, the Spirit, the Dream-Holder... and Gypsy.

With her comes a tribe of cats; six, hardened warriors beneath the gaudy appearences, and all with hearts of steel. With the Wanderer herself they are seven, a powerfully magical number even in the eyes of StarClan.

Will Gypsy and her cronies present a true threat to DawnClan - or will they just slip around the edges, never to be seen again?

Ember has chosen her apprentice, and hopes she has chosen well: Snowpaw will be the next medicine cat of DawnClan.


Keep watching...! Every shadow may be an enemy.

Two sunrises ago, Firesight traveled to Mothermouth to take her name and nine lives from StarClan. She has yet to return... has something gone wrong with the ceremony? And is Rosestar really dead... or just overthrown?

The kits are growing restless; Ember must soon make a choice, but if it'll have any impact on how the Clan will see each other is still to be determined.

Keep your eyes open and your ears perked - there are definite scents of loners lurking at the borders. They may just be in a position to threaten DawnClan.

As for prophecies, see below.

PLEASE, write a personality instead of just saying 'to be played out'.

AS IT SAYS CLEARLY IN THE FORM, try to not have every single character have a sob story. They're really, really repetitive. :3

PLEASE, create an actual description for your character, instead of using an image.

THE NAMES MUST BE A REAL WARRIOR NAME.
(i.e pertaining to nature; black, red, white, ember, fox, tree as the prefix with tail, pelt, nose, muzzle, stripe, spot, leaf, ect.)

AS FOR MATES AND KITS,
A she-cat and a tom most have KNOWN each other for ten days before they can become mates.
Furthermore, a she-cat must wait another week if she wishes to have kits before she may announce that she is with kit.
Kits may be played as full characters an additional five days after the she-cat has announced that she is with kit.

Kits become apprentices at six moons, or after two weeks - IF there is an open mentor for them!
They will become warriors when both Firestar and their mentor deems they are ready.

PROPHECIES
must be approved. Not every can can have a prophecy, no matter if they're one of the original DawnClan cats or not.

((This is just a post, I'm not upset about not getting apprentice. My character is.))

Morningkit was curled up in a ball on the nursery floor. No one else was there, so she let her sparkling tears flow freely. Soft sobs managed to escape, though she resisted. She tried to calm down, oh, she tried, but it was impossible. "W...Why?!" she cried to the sky. "Why?!" Her whole body wracked with spasms of grief.

Nightkit, who sat outside in the clearing, heard her wails, but didn't want to show it. She bowed her head in sorrow, Her eyes wet with tears for her beloved sister. She couldn't comfort her, that she knew. She saw only one option. Talk to Firestar and Ember. She wouldn't beg for her sister's training, but she would ask what she could do for the clan.

Daykit sighed for Morningkit's sake. She was so disappointed! How he wanted to cheer her up! But how? What could make her feel better? Then, he decided. He would go out of camp, catch some prey for the three of them to share, and also bring back herbs to look at. He'd help her train as a medicine cat in secret.

Nine lives.

She had been given nine lives.

Not eight, like she had expected.

Not seven or six.

Nine.

Her brother, Nightflame.
Her father, Tallstar.
Her sisters, Raintail and Skyfall.
Her kit-friend, Fireglance.
Her first love, Nightwind.
Her second and last mate, Rainpool.
Her mother, Moonwhisper - or Sunset, as she had been known, ages before.

And her former leader.

Rosestar.

Firesight – Firestar hadn’t expected to get all nine. She had killed Rosestar, hadn’t she?


No. She hadn’t. The sickness had killed the beautiful, red-tabby-and-white she-cat that she felt proud to call both her sibling and her mentor.

Not the red she-cat who now stood before StarClan, her green eyes raised to look at the circle of nine cats around her.

Faith. Mentoring. Courage. Strength. Integrity. Hope. Love. Will. Honesty.

The last one seemed like a bit of a crack at Firestar’s habit of lying to her mentors when she was younger. She snorted in annoyance, keeping the sound to herself, and looked up again.

“I’m so proud of you,” Rainpool meowed quietly as he rubbed his muzzle against her shoulder. “You have done well for our kits and our Clan. But now the next step has come, my dear, sweet Firestar.”

”The next step?” she echoed, blinking at him. He purred faintly, entwined his tail around hers one last time, and then vanished with the other eight cats into a collection of stars that whirled around her form before dancing into the sky once more.








That had been a quarter-moon ago.

Firestar now padded into the camp of DawnClan, looking weary and about to fall off of her paws. High-pitched, joyous mews reached her ears as Rainkit, Shadowkit and Ivykit bounced out of the nursery and purred loudly, running around her as she tried to make her way up to her new den. “Hush!” She finally meowed. “You’ll wake everyone.”

”Everyone is awake,” Windtail meowed from his perch nearby. “They’re all out hunting or patrolling, though. I decided to stay here and keep an eye out for you.”

She blinked in surprise, and then nodded her gratitude.

”Much appreciated,” Firesight muttered as she bounded up to her den. She could do with a good nap before addressing the Clan that evening.




The last words that had been whispered to her as she left the cave of the Moonstone echoed through her mind now, and she almost murmured them herself:
