“You can not stand by and wait for things to change. You must take action. Or perish.”

Alyxa paced back and forth on the ledge outside her den, thinking over what she now knew. What she had really known all along, but been afraid to admit. “How?” she asked quietly. “How will I convince them? How will we survive? Where will we go?”
“Not to interrupt your conversation with yourself, miss, but I may be able to lend some assistance.” A white dove fluttered down and landed beside her. In the time that it took the alpha to blink, the dove became a wolf. She looked at him, her expression both quizzical and impatient. “What do you want, Ferenc? I’m rather busy at the moment.” The white wolf sat down and dipped his head knowingly. “Like I said, miss, I don’t mean to interrupt and I wouldn’t if I didn’t think my information was relevant. But I do, so I am.”
Alyxa sighed. “Go on.”
“I couldn’t help but overhear. If I’m not mistaken you want to lead the pack from the desert, correct?” She said nothing, and Ferenc took it as a cue to continue. “Well, so do I. I’ve spent the past moon weighing the pros and cons, as well as mapping out possible routes. I think it’s able to be done. Now hear me out…”

After a long conversation with the wolf, Alyxa was convinced. Ferenc had mapped out long stretches of the desert, and together they had settled on a route on which to travel. The brute had noted there was more prey and more trees to the east, so they would start off in that direction. The fea had just finished preparing a small patrol to travel to Roaming Winds territory to attempt to recruit more wolves who wished to leave. She drew in a deep breath and closed her eyes, preparing to call her wolves and present them with her decision.
All that’s left now is to see who chooses to follow.

The New Saqqara

As many of you may or may not know, Lake has chosen to go her own way and start her own Role-play. After much consideration, I’ve chosen to run Saqqara solo rather than let it close. But, as is to be expected, Saqqara has had to undergo some changes in order to adapt. If you haven’t already, please read the above intro, as well as the rest of the front page. Here is a quick run down of what’s new…

• The title! “Saqqara” will now be known as “The Wolves of Saqqara”. It is not a totally new role-play with totally new characters. It’s just a new plot and setting.
• Any character you had in the previous two chapters you will be able to bring back -- even wolves that were in Lake’s pack, Roaming Winds.
• Roaming Winds and Ghost Flower packs have essentially merged together. Alyxa is fed up with the drought and has chosen to leave the desert. She has spoken to the members of both her own pack and Roaming Winds, and each wolf has been given a choice: agree to accept her leadership and leave the desert, or stay behind. Those wolves that choose to follow her will be a part of this RP. The only wolves that you should have choose to “stay behind” are characters that you no longer wish to play.
• Since many members were inactive anyway, I’m going to ask that ALL RETURNING MEMBERS who had characters from the previous chapters that they would like to bring back, please PM me the following information: 1.) Name of the wolf, 2.) Gender of the wolf, 3.) Brief physical description of the wolf, 4.) The wolf’s power, 5.) The wolf’s Amulet gem and 6.) Whether the wolf previously belonged to Ghost Flower or Roaming Winds. You will not be able to RP, and your wolves will not be re-added to the member list until you do. If you do not PM this information for a wolf, I’m going to assume that you chose to leave that wolf behind and it will not be added to the member list. Also, all returning wolves have already met Alyxa, are with her and the rest of the pack, and have amulets.
• New members, or old members who would like to add new characters, please fill out the complete form which is located further down on this post. New wolves will be placed under the category of “Wanderers” until they meet Alyxa. Wanders do not have amulets.
• Water Powers such as Ice and Water have not been tolerated here…until now. Wolves that are joining during this chapter will be allowed to have these powers.
• The wolves are on the move, meaning…there is no camp! The pack is pretty much together at all times and traveling together. They stop to rest and hunt, but I repeat, THERE IS NO CAMP. Please look at the Current Pack Information section to see what the pack is doing and where they are.
• Please keep in mind that the wolves are still in the desert. Most people know that deserts are incredibly hot in the day, but not as many seem to know that they actually get quite cold at night. So remember: hot in the day time, close to freezing at night.
• I really need some medicine shamans and two pairs of betas (beta pairs must be mates)! If you have a wolf interested in either position, please let me know. This doesn’t guarantee them that position, but it lets me know who to keep my eye on.
• There is no longer an alpha male key. Alyxa will pick a mate eventually, but the key is gone and won’t be coming back.
• I think that ‘bout covers it…if anyone has any questions about anything, please feel free to PM me and I’ll try to help clear up any confusion.

Rules & Role-play Etiquette

• Follow all WI role-play rules.
• Please RP in 3rd person only. It is easier for others to read and it really does look better when going over past conversations.
• Of course be nice. No rude, mean, un-needed comments here. No exceptions.
• Please keep chat speak to a minimum out of RP, and do not use chat speak in RP. When speaking out of RP, please enclose your words in parentheses or brackets. (( )), {{ }}, or [[ ]].
• Mates can be taken five days after meeting. Same goes for pups.
• Pups are only born during the Spring. Check the Pack Information section to find out what the current season is.
• Fights between wolves will be tolerated, (no fighting outside of the RP!) but please remember to keep things PG.
• I trust that you’ve read the rules -- there is no “secret word”.

A Note on Powers

Even though the wolves are leaving, the powers are going to still work in the same way. The wolves themselves DO NOT HAVE POWERS. The amulets are what have the powers, and if a wolf isn’t wearing its amulet, that wolf’s power won’t work. Also, if a wolf hasn’t joined the pack yet, it won’t have an amulet (the amulets are given to the wolves by Alyxa), and therefore that wolf will not be able to control a power until it joins the pack.*

I also think there has been a bit of confusion about the number of powers a regular ranking wolf has. Here’s how it works: Regular ranking wolves - amulet grants them ONE power. Medicine Shamans - amulet grants them ONE power and an additional healing power. Beta wolves - amulet grants them TWO powers. Alpha wolves - amulet grants them THREE powers.

* There is one minor exception to this rule. If you have a character from a previous Role-play (not Saqqara) that was born with powers, then I will allow them to join and keep control of any powers that they were born with if you add a brief description of that wolf’s history to your form.

How to RP this out: No hunting trips, or wolves lazing around bored. If your wolf is in the pack, your wolf is moving with the pack. Wolves can speak to one another while they're walking, but that's basically it. Limiting, I know, but these movement periods do not last long and are neccesary for the wolves to find a new home.
