It was dark, long past the beginnings of nightfall, when a plush grey wolf neared the end of a desert crag. He slid down until his paws dangled off the edge, looking down onto sand. It looked far off, but in reality the distance was only a few tail-lengths. The brute pulled his eyelids back, keeping off awaiting sleep. | | | |

The long winding path lay before the black she-wolf, her tired gray eyes scanning the gold-and-brown horizon. Cautious pawsteps left small indentations, marks of her traveling in the never ending sand, only to be brushed away as a light breeze cast new crystals over the old.
She let out a low, weary sigh, eyes dropping to the ground as she continued her journey forward.
A yelping behind her made the she-wolf turn, in time to see the white pup that she had called her own slip in loose sand. Atrethe shook her head, padding back to pick the young scrap up in her teeth, carefully setting her daughter upon her own dark back-fur.
“Come on, A’yern.”
