He froze, a bright orange-red flash startling him out of his muse. Tuovanni’s eyes widened slightly.
He knew that pelt.
He knew those feathers.
Hardly daring to believe his own green eyes, Tuovanni skittered down the sandy hill towards the she-wolf, almost oogling her. They had both changed in the year or so apart – he had darkened, she seemed to have grown brighter – or was that just how he saw her?
Tuovanni slowly approached the she-wolf’s rock, his ears flicked back and the white spots on the back of each ear showing.
“Do I know you?”

Firesong never looked up, her life had become nothing but sorrow since Tuovanni had left. She gave up alpha and wandered until she found a place that no one would know her. "I don't know..." she said her voice without emotion. | | | |

“I think…. I think I do,” Tuovanni said slowly, coming closer. His deep green eyes sought hers – willing the she-wolf to see the truth. “Firesong?” Tuovanni muttered, biting his lip. “Is that you, somewhere in there?”

“It’s been a couple of season-cycles, hasn’t it?” Tuovanni smiled crookedly. “I’ve changed, even if you might not have. You still look only a day over a full season-cycle… and just as pretty as I remember,” the brown male added under his breath.
