How long have you been role-playing? Do you take breaks from it? Have you taken a long break and then returned to it?

Some role play news:
March 21st, 2010: Wow! What a close COTM we had this month, there were 32 votes cast and the following members (yes: members!) won by one vote in the end. We had some great submissions and a great contest.
Congrats to Legacy (owned by madi86042) and Lil' Slashie (owned by Princessfrog11) who have won the Character of the month poll! The end resulted in a tie, so both have been declared winners and both members will be ineligible for nomination for the next two months of voting.
As a side note: Elibean can now be nominated in April's contest.

January 10th, 2010 - about role plays selected: I just want to leave a quick note for everyone: I have seen/heard that some may have been disappointed or hurt that their role play was not selected recently, and I understand that. But due to the rules and other deciding factors to the section we can only allow so many to be approved and selected at each point we feel it is needed.
We do this for a variety of reasons, but also so the section is not flooded with role plays. If we were to approve every role play on the list this time around, no one would have time to play on anyone but their own! And that would not be any fun, as it would take away from the best part of role playing: writing with others!
Secondly, Role plays are not a competition. Yes, some of the new ones are getting some extra attention right now. But that is because they are new & something exciting for everyone, that does not mean that your thread is less important to Dana and I, or that it is less special. It just means that something different has come and people want to "test the waters" so to speak to see if it will suit them.
Every role play -- be it if they have 5 posts or 10,000 posts a day is just as important to us in this section. You have each put a lot of work into it and show creativity and share a little piece of your time and talents. That is always going to put each of your threads at #1 in my books. 
November 11th - Larkrose departs from the role play section, Danathorn joins!: Good evening everyone, I will ask that you all take a moment to read this post carefully. As it does involve a few changes that are forthcoming to the section.
The first thing I need to mention is the following: Due to personal reasons, Larkrose will be stepping down as moderator for WI and the section. She has been a wonderful influence to this section for a long time, and a close friend to us all, myself included.
I know this will be a hard blow for you all, please understand that nothing was done to hurt any of you or this section. She does express her thanks and regrets for leaving so suddenly.
Because Larkrose held most of the information for the applications, and more so because they have been so overwhelming and many are out-dated. I would ask that you resubmit your ideas if you are interested. This will serve two purposes - We can determine who is still interested in the process, and it will clean up our holdings of the role play list and give us a more accurate number of who is waiting.
Please think of this as a fresh slate for role play applications. If you would like to change your submitted idea, this is your chance to do so. We will be keeping an extensive list of them now, and they will be updated again.
That said, I will still be around and I would like you to welcome our newest role play moderator here, Danathorn! Who will be learning the ropes of role playing and is a wonderful person -- I'm sure you will find her friendly, funny, and a great new friend! I really enjoy her company and getting to know her and I am know you will too. Please do not hesitate to ask her for help either!
I know many of you will be wondering about role play applications and the character of the month contests, Dana and I will be moving forward and discussing the COTM Contest, and role play applications will still be *considered* for December. But we can not promise at this point if there will be threads opening then.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We are all going to make this transition as easy as possible. But it will take some time to work through this, we only ask for your patience and understanding as we all work through this together.
Some rules to this thread:
This is not a chat thread. Posts need to be about role-playing. It's not to be used as a "find a mate" thread. No arguing or rudeness. Also, please don't make accusations...for instance, it's better to say "Sometimes I have a hard time finding someone to rp with me" rather than "Everybody on the Gopher Supermodel thread hates me!" Please remember that if you are posting about your role play, this is done at your own risk. We can not check every post in this thread to see if someone has "stolen" the idea.
There is to be no discussion of why a member was banned or why someone got in trouble. If you have a question you can address it privately to Danathorn or MissGnomie. It should not be open for public discussion.
