You know... I'm not sure.
It may just be a craze or something, the current roleplay 'thing'. I've noticed it with myself, to be honest.

I don't know how to explain it. I just wasn't happy with the way I was roleplaying, or the characters I was using. They were boring, and, well... I guess the best way to put it is they had all become the same. Until recently, I never really wrote out personalities for my characters and I think that that at least is where I'm messing up. They aren't unique anymore.

No, clique-y isn't good, though it is easy to get where your characters are involved in certain plots and then it's hard to mix with other characters. On Cerulean Bay, I tended to feel spread a little thin.

I don't like chat-speak, either....I don't mind a little if it's out of rp (like g2g) but I don't know that I'd be good at semi-elite. I tend to focus more on dialogue and less on narrative or description, so sometiimes I don't want to write more than one line.

I agree- sometimes I like a post that's to the point rather than one that uses all these long, confusing words. xD

For example, look at these two roleplay sentences.

A dark black tom cat with a pelt that shone in the moonlight, who was a bit larger than the average size of a rat, padded exitedly [sp?] to the center of the gathering place, on which the light that shone on it stretched as long as the night sky itself.

An average-sized black tom padded to the center of the gathering place excitedly, the light shining on his pelt.

The first one is long and descriptive, however you tend to get lost in all the words. Whereas the second one is straight, to the point, but still having something to do with the roleplay. [A sentence like "The light shone on his pelt" probably wouldn't have anything much to do with the roleplay.]

I think that one of the reasons is that we have newer roleplayers joining. That's fine- I mean, I love to see people start roleplaying! But I'm not sure many of them really know how to create a character well. Bu they're learning, and that's great.

Also, many people want their charries to be the best, to be the most beautiful, to be just like edward cullen...we need diversity. Not everyone can have "an inumanely beautiful blonde with sparkling blue eyes and a perfect body build."

-applauds- Exactly! That's another thing I see, there's a billion 'edward cullen' characters in every roleplay. It gets tiring.
