I shrugged and glanced upwards at the star filled sky. I liked it on nights like these when the sky was clear and you could see hundreds and hundreds of little glimmers against the dark black of the sky. "I hear things," I answered at last.

"I do, too" I told her. I wondered if she heard her things on purpose like me- I set out with the purpose to find things out sometimes- or if she just heard them. Just stumbled upon information she didn't want. "But when I do, it's 'spying', according to Ryan. And I never seem to hear what I'm looking for."
There were so many questions.

Ten was perfect; pretty much impossible to beat. And I knew Quinn always wanted to beat his brothers at something or another, and I wanted him to, too. Just so he'd be happy. So I said,
"Nine."
Then I added, "Now it's Milly's turn."

"I'm bad at this," She explained, walking towards the dock. Derik shook the water off of him, taking a spot next to me.
"Who's ahead?" He asked me.
I rolled my eyes, "You."
Brett scoffed, "Of course."
Milly took a running leap off the dock, her splash very weak and wimpy. It barely hit the dock, and Brett booed her.
"Five," He said
"Six," I said. I didn't want to hurt her feelings.
"Ten," Derik said automatically. Milly grinned at him from the water. "You're perfect."
Brett and I rolled our eyes simultaneously.

I grinned a little, noting that Derik was really sweet towards Milly. Brett and Quinn seemed kind of annoyed by this fact, but I thought it was cute.
"Five point five," I said with a shrug; making my answer a median of Brett and Quinn's. Because I really didn't know.

And where they come from, who there parents are, what kind of child hood memories they have, who they like, what they're really like, whether or not they're happy?"

"Go, little brother," Brett said, shoving me towards the dock. Milly got out, wringing out her hair and glaring at me with a hint of a smile.
"Six, my God," She grinned despite herself. She shoved my shoulder and I teetered a little bit, off balance.
I rolled my eyes at her, taking a running start before launching myself into the water. It stung a little, but maybe that was a good sign. I submerged, pulling myself onto the dock.
"Nine point seven," Derik said.
"Nine point eight," Brett agreed, looking to Milly. I really hoped she wasn't going to give me a ****** score.
"Nine," She said, smiling a little.

"Sure, I've wondered what people were thinking," I said, wondering if it counted that I usually only did that for one person. "But I don't really want to know everything about most people. It'd involve getting close to them, which is dangerous."
