"What'd you guys talk about?" I pressed on, trying to get as much information I could about the whole situation. I loved hearing about things like this; it was like getting a good view into other people's life. And for some reason, that greatly appealed to me.

I grinned, wondering what it was exactly Brett was going to say, but not letting it bother me. I slipped off my flip flops and quickly pulled my hair up into a ponytail. I had a tanktop on under my shirt, so I pulled the shirt off, so I'd have something somewhat warm and dry to put on when it was freezing cold and I was drenched with lake water.
"So how's this gonna work?" I asked.

Derik nudged me in the back and mumbled under his breath. "Stop staring."
I quickly looked away, turning a little red.
"We go alphabetically and whoever gets the biggest splash wins," Milly explained, wringing out her hair.
Brett frowned, "Who said we were going alphabetically?"
Milly looked to me and then Derik and then Ty, "Alphabetically is fair, right?"

"About our different reasons for being in the forest. Hers was a lot more simple than my reason though," I answered. It had kind of made me jealous. She was just going on a walk, that was all. She could do simple things like that because she was one of those happy people. People expected her to do normal things like that, but they expected me to be all mean and Ashlynish.

"I guess," I said hesitantly, thinking it over. I'd be last, which was good for me. I was pretty sure, anyways. "But would I be counted as Serenity or Ty if we went in alphabetical order?"
I knew it didn't matter. Either way I was last. But I kind of just wanted to know what she'd say.

"I don't really think either of your reasons were simpler than the other's," I told her. "Even if it seemed simple and harmless enough, I'm sure there was some kind of long story behind it. She might have thought your reason was simple, but she didn't know the half of it. Because of course she didn't know the huge complicated story behind it."

I looked at the cover. What book had I chosen? "Um...A Wizard's Guide to Muggle's Money Matters, I guess." Wow. I had managed to choose the most boring book in the library.

Derik mocked, "Yeah, Quinton."
I turned to him, shoving him a little with a grin.

I thought about it a moment, confused by nearly everything he was saying. What wasn't simple about going on a walk? "It was just a walk though, right? That's pretty simple if you ask me."
