Gifted Academy; Book 2; Betrayal and Battle

Betrayals and Battles Begin With the Simplest of Actions...

“Here you go, Father,” Ty says, eagerly handing his father, Rurik, the last of the Maps. The Maps show every way in, every way out, every hiding place, every place at all, in fact, of the Gifted Academy. They were drawn by this young boy, and given to his father with a large, almost malicious smile.
Rurik laughs and skims over the map, his eyes sparkling. “This is wonderful!” he cries, nearly grinning at his son before looking back out again. “The last of the Maps--my collection, it is complete! Finally!” He hugs the boy tightly.
Ty’s heart swells with happiness and flutters in his chest like a baby bird. His father is proud of him!
The moment is over all too quickly for Ty’s liking; now Rurik pulls away and sets the map down with the others. He then bellows, “PEPIN!” and sits suddenly down, taking out a feather pen and a little pot of black in.
“Yes, Sire?” asks the tiny goblin-like creature as it hobbles up.
“Get me the finest paper we have, Pepin. And be ready to deliver a special message.”
“To whom shall I take the message, Sire?” Pepin inquires when he returns with the paper.
Ty watches, holding his breath. “Yeah, who?” he echoes.
“My brother.”
The letter reads as follows:

Twin;
Get ready for battle, my brother. I am coming home.
Rurik

And the goblin-like creature is off, his feathery wings expanding and taking the letter with the freshly drying black snake seal to the leader of the Gifted Academy, Leif.
“Ty. Tell our friends that it is time for Battle. We shall leave at day’s break.”

A tall man with dark hair stands in on one of the many balconies of the castle. In his hand he clutches a letter so tightly that his knuckles are white; he grinds his teeth, shaking his head. “We are not ready,” he whispers, staring down at the Academy before him. “But…we must fight.” He turns, crumpling the letter into tiny ball, and throwing it aside.
Then, something amazing happens.
He throws back his head, lifts his arms, and shuts his eyes tightly. There’s flash--
A blinding white light--
And then all that is left is a pile of clothing, the crumpled paper ball sitting atop of it.
Quickly flying away is a beautiful bald eagle. It lets out a piercing cry of rage before disappearing into a fluffy white cloud. The cry is more than a cry. It seems to say; “Let us prepare, my children, for Battle.”

Who will you fight with? The Children of the Academy? Or the monsters of the Dark Ones? It is up to You to decide the fate of us all…

The Academy;

Thirty years ago, a young man named Leif ran away from home. Leif was a bright fellow and, amazingly, could transform into a bald eagle at will. He knew there were others like himself out there, and he knew they had probably been abused and teased just as he had. So he created a place where they could learn to harness their powers, use them, and fine-tune them, without being ridiculed. He built the Academy by hand, and invites anyone--from children to adults--to come and learn. Leif recently had a second area put up, for people to train with their powers and with swords and such.
Though for many, many years there has been peace between the Dark Ones and the Gifted Academy, things are about to change.

The Castle; The Castle is one of the most wondrous features on the Academy’s campus. It’s made of solid white marble, and is about as big as two football fields lined up next to one another. No one but Leif--the leader, and basically ‘Principal’ of the entire Academy--is allowed inside…That is, unless you’re invited inside.
The Meeting Room; Meetings are held in this long, log-cabin every so often.
Training Cabin; The training cabin is best for new arrivals who don’t really know about their powers just yet. Teachers--and sometimes Leif himself--help their students with their powers, until they can use them on their own without problems.
Lunch room; One of the few hang-outs, the lunch room is where you eat, drink, and socialize. Inside are several long, wooden tables and matching wooden benches. There’s a buffet-like area on the west side of the building that is kept constantly filled with food.
Housing Cabins; This, like the Lunch Room, is sort of self-explanatory. In each cabin are several beds, several dressers, a couch, a coffee-table, etc.
The Fountain; A second hang-out spot. The fountain itself is a beautiful piece of art made from blocks of silver that is surrounded by several wooden benches.
Battle Practice Fields; The newest addition to the Academy. The field is split up into three sections;
• Beginner - New students and those who are just beginning to learn to fight practice with toy-swords on stuffed straw dummies here.
• Intermediate - Real weapons are aloud here, but only to be used on the dummies!
• One-on-one Combat - Students may challenge each other to a duel here--with real or fake weapons, it’s their choice. No extreme gore or death is permitted here, though.

Information about Powers;
A power is anything. Being able to turn into fire, make water move at with the flick of your wrist, shape-shifting into an animal…Anything. But, please note that being a vampire isn’t a power, and each character can have up to only TWO powers.

The Fissure and its Inhabitants;

Thirty years ago, when Rurik’s twin brother, Leif, ran away, Rurik found himself devastated.
One day, a very depressed little Rurik was wandering around in the woods. He came across a clearing; in the middle of the clearing was a huge fissure. Stupidly, Rurik climbed down inside. He climbed deeper and deeper until he made it to a little ledge. He sat and looked around, smiling to himself. “What a wonderful place!”
Suddenly, there was the sound of claws dragging against the stone behind him; he spun around. There sat a hideous baby monster; Rurik giggled. “Hi there, little guy,” he said, patting the rock in front of him, “Come ‘ere, I won’t hurt ya!”
Since then Rurik has raised monsters in the fissure (calling them The Dark Ones), and has slowly turned evil. He now hates his brother, and blames him for the fact that his parents died just a few days after he’d left. He’s out to destroy the Academy and his brother, so unless you’re on his side, watch out!

The Main Entrance/Throne Room; When you first arrive here, this is where you go. Basically, it’s a enormous stone cave. Off of it branches many, many little tunnels that connect all of the different caverns.
In the middle of the main cavern sits an elegant throne. In front of the throne is a crystal ball that was built by Rurik himself; this is where Rurik spends most of his time, spying on the outside world.
Rurik’s Secret Room; It is a secret room, so no one really knows anything about it…
Armory; A large room where weapons are stored in huge metal shelves.
Housing Cave; Sort of self-explanatory. Its were the monsters sleep in small mini-caves that cover the walls. They also eat here, from troughs that are kept filled.
Battle Arena; A large black-stoned cave where monsters can battle each other to test their strength. There is a large, red-wood structure surrounding the interior of the arena, where others can sit and watch.
Pepin’s Quarters; Lucky little Pepin has his own room! Well, one wouldn’t really call it a room. It’s about the size of a coat-closet, and it’s where he spends most of his time.
Meeting Room; A large cavern where meetings are held; pretty self-explanatory.

Some helpful information about monsters;
Monsters are monsters--they can look like any sort of creepy creature you can imagine. One thing, though, vampires don’t count as monsters, just like your power can’t be you’re a vampire. Werewolves aren’t monsters either, but things like Cyclopes and such are.

Rules;
1 - Please follow all of WI’s rules regarding role-playing.
2 - Yes this is an RP where there will be wars and battles and such, but please, don’t make things too gory or scary.
3 - Only make as many characters as you can handle
4 - Try to be an active member!
5 - No foul language, of course.
6 - Try to use your best grammar and spelling. It makes it easy for everyone to understand.
7 - Type in “” when your character is speaking. Type in ( ), [ ], { } when you’re speaking out of character.
8 - No modern-day weapons. Only things like swords, daggers, and bows and arrows, please!
9 - Type ‘The Academy Will Triumph!’ with your form if your character is an Academy student and you’ve read all of the rules.
10 - Type ‘Darkness Will Rise!’ with your form if your character is a Dark one and you’ve read all of the rules.
11 - HAVE FUN!!!!
12 - Please PM me your forms; you may post them as well, but you MUST PM them to me!
13 - Only one or two powers per Academy Student. No more than that.
14 - Dating is not aloud. Simple as that. Crushes are OK, but no dating. I was pretty upset to hear that some people are breaking this rule; though I did not have it posted, it's still a WI rule which means you must follow it.
15 - You cannot plan random events without my permission/larkrose's permission, like dances. Those need permission from her AND me. Battles, if you want a battle or just a little scrimage, please run it by me first.

5/16 ~ Welcome to Book 2, Everyone! Now, a little information on the battle;
There will be more than one Battle. Each Battle will be held on a certain day, probably a Saturday or Sunday, and it will take place over the course of an hour or so. I will post dates/times when I have them figured out. REMEMBER: DO NOT GET TOO GORY! Yeah, it is a Battle, but please, keep things PG or better. More info will be posted as I think of things. Any questions, PM me.
ALSO:
If you would like your character's power displayed with his/her name, please PM me the power and the character. Thanks. =)

6/24 ~ Good day, everyone!

Also, if there is something--character or power--that I have not added, PLEASE PM ME. I did have a document of things I needed to add, but my computer had a little freak attack and the document is lost. =(

7/2 ~ I'm sorry about there being no meeting last night; things happened at home, so...
Officially, Rurik and his 'Army' are stationed in the forest outside of the GA.
Yes, random little attacks may be made if you wish, but nothing big until the actual battle, please.

7/3 ~ THE BATTLE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR THE 15TH OF JULY, STARTING AT 6 PM KT.

7/15 ~ The Battle went pretty well! It will certainly not be the last; there will be another battle sometime soon, I must figure out the date, though. For all who missed, I'll try to plan this next one at a better time, I promise.
ALSO; If any of your characters died please PM me so I can remove them from your list.
7/24 ~ I will not be on much starting this weekend. I have family coming up to stay for three weeks, and I'm going on vacation. I will update the front page after I can be on more again.

Katherine Calypso - Eighteen - Telekenesis (she can control and move objects with her mind along with tapping into other people's minds) - Born in Tenessee, oldest daughter. She ran away from home and found the Academy

Lauren Calypso - Sixteen - Shape-shifter - Born in Tenessee as one of seven kids. She has a twin sister named Lizzie. Her best friend is Cassie. Around their sixteenth birthday she, her sister and Cassie ran away to the Academy

Elizabeth Calypso (Lizzie) - Sixteen- Super Acid Spit - Born in Tenessee as one of seven kids. She has a twin sister named Lauren. Her best friend is Cassie. Around their sixteenth birthday she, her sister and Cassie ran away to the Academy

Cassandra Sholtz - Sixteen - Can communicate/ control insects and reptiles - She was born in Tennessee, the oldest and only child of Rebecca Stevenson and Robert Sholtz. Her mother remarried after the divorce and she has a half-brother Tommy. When her mom and step-dad planned to kill her, she ran away with the Twins

Chester (Brimstone) - Seventeen Hundred - Morphs into dragon with fire power - He was born in ancient China and a few hundred years later his sister was born. He and her were cursed to be immortal as humans with being a dragon as a side-power

Star (FlameStar) - Sixteen Hundred Eighty Five - Morphs into dragon with shape-shifting and fire power - She was born a few thousand years ago in China. She and her brother were cursed to walk the earth forever

Taylor Surf - Seventeen - Shape-shifter - Taylor was born in the most humid state in America, Florida. Of course she was picked on due to the fact she could change into different things when her body was under pressure (i.e. - scared, sneezing, coughing, or screaming). She came to the Academy to find other "freaks" like her.

Jennifer - Eighteen - Fire Power - A human one who supports the Dark Side! She was Katie's best friend growing up but she was in it for the power of everything. She believes in the highest bidder kind of mentality. At the moment she thinks Rurik is the strongest and is aiding by her fire powers as much as she can.

Crunch - 1,000 years - A metal monster who hates humans

Sparks - 10 - A demonic crazy bird who believes in teh Savior of the DArkness which he believes is Crunch.
