Hailwater walked into the clearing with a vole in his mouth, making his way to the fresh kill pile. He saw Moonstream and made an attempt at a greeting, but failed, for his mouth was too full to understand what he was saying.

The she-cat didn't hear anything, so she barely acknowledged the other warrior. She was staring up into the sky, her eyes fixed on a star so bright it looked painted on the dark sky. She happened to look down and see Hailwater, though, and she jumped up.
"Hello," she mewed.

Hailwater laughed and set the vole down on the ground in front of him. "Hello."

"Darkkit!" Sunkit squealed. "Are you okay?" She often teased her sister, but Darkkit was, truthfully, her best friend (with Whitekit, too, of course.).

I was too frightened to answer. The weird cat's too-long, too-sharp claws had missed me by a hair. I flattened myself against the ground, trembling as I looked up at the creature's huge, dangerous face.

"Sort of." He replied, noticing her looking at the vole. "You can have the vole if you want..." He said, nudging it towards her, thinking she was hungry.

I squeaked in reply, too frightened to form a coherent sentence as the odd cat bent down to bare its teeth a pawlength from my face. I could feel its hot, stinky breath on my fur.

Sunkit didn't know what to do. I can't fight that off! I can't leave Darkkit to get help either! Sunkit's face ******* up in thought for a second and then she looked over at Darkkit. The fox was very close to her. "Run, Darkkit!"

I scrambled to my paws, shaking so badly I could hardly stand. I started moving backwards, but the weird cat growled. It was a clear signal for me to stay put.

Sunkit looked around Darkkit, trying to see somewhere she could run to for safety. There were a few trees around Darkkit, but they were farther away. Sunkit didn't really know how to climb trees and wasn't sure if Darkkit knew how, but she was hoping climbing trees was easy. "Excuse me!" Sunkit called, trying to call attention to herself. Okay... Pay attention to me, unfamiliar animal... And then leave Darkkit so she can run to trees and climb one... and then I'll climb the one next to me. Good Plan, right?
