The tip of a black ear twitched. Lightning yellow eyes looked up from their sleep, only to see a blackbird recklessly hopping around at the base of an old Cedar tree not far away. The she-cat arose, careful to keep her pawsteps quiet as possible. Her muscles tense, Midnightbreeze slowly crept toward the creature, her breath coming out in slow, easy gasps. When she was no more than three tail lengths away, the half beige have charcoal cat leapt, sending leaves and dust into the air with her swift, lithe movement. The bird cawed in suprise, and beat its wing furiously in an attempt to dodge the unsheathed claws. It played well. Midnightbreeze missed her meal by a whiskers length. The she-cat cursed under her breath, eyes blazing.

She laughed. "Must of been because of you running away."

Fern’s body tensed at the faint crunch of leaves followed by a short mew. Fern stayed still, petrified. Another cat was clearly in the area. She sniffed the dry air. The aroma of another cat was definitely present, as the breeze carried to her. Fortunately for her the breeze was in her favor, not rushing her scent toward the cat. Fern crept slowly towards the scent, her haunches low and her ears tilted back. Her soft green eyes quickly fell upon the cat. She was a rather slender, with creamy milky colored fur covering half of her body and a dark charcoal covering the other. Noticeable pink scars were prominent, making the small cat look much more intimidating, though nothing to scare the overly confident fern.
