Your name should be built off of your characters personality. For example if your character is ruthless, and dark, you might want a name like Saber, Ash, o something that has a meaning like DARK, grey, or perhaps bad.
Alos, when I've seen very undetailed descriptions before. For example, if your character is a lion, you should try to descride each of it's features. It's fur color, or colors, it's eyes, it's body build (size and lenght) and EVERYHING different or detailed about it. If you only describe it's fur, you're not going to get the same image in your brain.
AND
always base your person/animal's personality on what group they are in, at least partly. If you join an evil group, you should describe them in SOME way, a little shady, or mean. If you join the nicest group, then make them caring or kind in some way. | | | 08-24-2009, 07:05 PM | #232 | stripley Gifted Join Date: Oct 2007 Posts: 4,398 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays That's true...but sometimes I just come up with random names. My most recent character is named Two, and he's an otherworldly cat. Not really relevant, I guess. | | | 08-25-2009, 11:38 PM | #233 | Psalm 4:8 ♥ Gifted Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 3,842 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays I think if you are going to have twins, I would either make their names TOTAL opposites, or really similar (depending on if they are alike or different). I have Hogwarts twins, and the girl is Juniper and the boy is Aries (spacey-astronomyogical names lol XD); but if your twins were opposite you could have Dawn and Dusk (I know, that is really uncreative, but I just named that off the top of my head) or Blaze and Frostine (I love the Candy Land game, lol). | | | 08-26-2009, 10:15 AM | #234 | U457H Webkinz :) Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 13,345 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays well, injurys like a slashed face (my warriors charrie has that) can corrupt a charactor or possibly make it gentler. while your filling out a form you could put a description someplace and even a picture so that people can picture your cat/charrie. like if you wanted a charactor by a stream with fish swimming by and a cat sitting by on a rock, you just try to picture everything and describe it so other people can, too! | | | 09-03-2009, 09:35 PM | #236 | U457H Webkinz :) Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 13,345 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays another tip is expressing how you feel in your RPing. like if your mad, have your charries grumpy and stuff | | | 09-14-2009, 07:12 PM | #237 | ColemanGal Gifted Join Date: Apr 2007 Posts: 1,741 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Wow! Great tips you guys!
I only have a few things to say, and they probably aren't that important, but here goes nothing!
When I'm naming my charries, I usually give them a name that I'm fond of, and then weird out the spelling. Like for the name "Sarah"I would do something like "Sarruh" or something really weird.
Some more examples would be:
Danielle-Danniele
Zach-Zacck
Isabel-Izzabell
Not my charrie's names, just some off the top of my head. Plus, think of some pretty items or something that you like. I can't think of an example off the top of my head, but you get the point, right?
Like a lot of people have said before, be descriptive when describing your character! It really gives people an essence of what your character is really like. Also, be descriptive when playing the role.
Instead of: I dragged Marisa down to the beach.
Consider: I dragged Marisa down to the beach with such a grip that there was no possible way for Marisa to protest any longer.
Hope I helped! It's always a good idea not to make your character an angel or hint at the runner u want a certain role. You will easily get into scraps! | | | 09-25-2009, 11:59 PM | #240 | Nintedo101 Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 235 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays There are some fantastic tips here.
My tip: avoid the clichés. Clever, handsome, brave, "bad" heroes and kind, beautiful, loved-by-everybody princesses are examples of overused personalities. Get original, be unique, and make that character shine.
If you think your character is a little too perfect, you can always take the Mary Sue Litmus Test, which is a test that will determine if your character is a Mary Sue (a perfect character) or not.
A unique character is a memorable one. | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
