•Give your character a quirk. As in, something they always do when they're feeling a certain way, or lying, or something on that order. Examples;
She twisted her a strand of her bangs around her pinky finger--she always did this when nervous.
He tapped the side of his nose and grinned as he gave his words of advice to her.
Her cheeks grew red--she was lying, again. How very interesting, Dolphin. I've never done that, I don't think. Maybe I should....
Also, Larkrose, since most people [including myself] are too lazy to sift through this entire thread, if you see a great tip on here, maybe you should put it on the front page! __________________ i wish i could count to 10, make everything be wonderful again | | | 10-19-2008, 05:15 PM | #14 | ith Sony Vegas I'm a Gift Guru Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 42,573 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Well for me, what I do is I thinks of the gender I want, then I'll think of the main colour. I'll doodle a wolf and fill in the colour and add some unique markings to them. Then I'll try and find a name that fits around the description. In the magical wolf RP's, I think of powers before names most of the time. Becuase once I know the power I can search up names that mean that power. For instance, say I had a wolf with a fire power. And it was a female, I could name her Serafina which I knows means something like fire. __________________

(Physical and personalities.) Do you guys want me to post them? | | | 10-19-2008, 05:19 PM | #16 | MAST is not Gifted Join Date: Feb 2008 Posts: 15,879 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Hee hee dogs, you're doing my thing backwards! I usually give my charries other features for their description.
-Like Peace has floating wings above her back, she can't fly. But she can move them.
-Or Truck has very short fur, and short but sharp claws.
Stuff like that. It also adds to their personality.
-Peace doesn't mind not being able to fly, but she wonders why sh has her tiny little wings for nothing.
-Truck likes to stay indoors because of his short fur, and would prefure heat over cold anyday. Truck also tends bites his nails, that's why they're so short.
I also like to keep one character, making up new names isn't the easiest part of a new charrie for me, so I take one of my older ones, and add more detailed descriptions on them. Like Truck. He's been re-vamped a bunch of times. And I will probably continue to add to him untill I'm content with his outcome. __________________ Im goin down, goin down ((swingin)). | | | 10-19-2008, 05:32 PM | #20 | MAST is not Gifted Join Date: Feb 2008 Posts: 15,879 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Oh, so that's why you keep using Truck alot. :3 It's an interesting name...
I tried using Whispersong again, but I had to change it. I couldn't have two Whispys. __________________ i wish i could count to 10, make everything be wonderful again | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
