For example, on the Dragon Emporium, I explained what my dragon's power was: To Illude into Someone's Fear: Pepito (Yes, I know, not the most creative name, but sometimes I'm a bad girl and make characters from TV shows. In this case it was Madeline - and thankfully DE peoples don't really mind that stuff, since everyone there basically does it. . . xD) could know that Brixy's (Dolphin Lover12's charrie) fear is spiders, for instance, and be able to make her think he's a spider. To someone else, though, he'll be the crimson dragon he is. And to another, maybe he looks like a bumblebee, or another a boa constrictor.
Of course, you don't really have to explain everything; some power terms are straight-forward, to the point, and make perfect sense from the start.
I hope that helps, ♫ ♪ Cherio ♪ ♫ | | | 10-25-2008, 10:36 PM | #112 | SmileeProductions™ Webkinz :) Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 9,207 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays I agree with Fp on that.
I get alot of forums like,
Kaia
Girl
firebender
pretty.
A better way to do it would be like this:
Kaia
Female.
Firebender.
She was long black hair and she wears a bright red kimono. She also wears no shoes.
My thinking would be that making you character more descriptive would make it alot easier for other people to picture the character in they're head. | | | 10-25-2008, 11:51 PM | #113 | Gift Guru Join Date: Apr 2007 Posts: 14,760 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Good point, Rukia. It also helps with approaching the character....you can say "Zoe saw a girl in a bright red kimono and no shoes" or "I'm new here," she asked the shoeless girl. | | | 10-25-2008, 11:53 PM | #114 | SmileeProductions™ Webkinz :) Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 9,207 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Originally Posted by larkrose Good point, Rukia. It sets the mood. I like listening to slower music for my characters, because often that helps me to create a deeper character. If I want a lighter character that I don't want to get as involved with, I would listen to something lighter. | | | 10-28-2008, 06:28 PM | #116 | I be Shadow. >:D Gifted Join Date: Feb 2008 Posts: 40,174 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays I agree. Music is greatly helpful in creativity—it can be surprising just how much the style of the song can reflect the character, too. | | | 10-28-2008, 06:32 PM | #117 | stripley Gifted Join Date: Oct 2007 Posts: 4,398 | Re: Character 101--How to make really great characters for role-plays Exactly. I like to have deeper characters.
