Please introduce yourself this way:
Hi, I'm Shadow. My favorite books are the Eragon books, Twilight books, and the Warriors books. I have written 2 short stories, and I'm working on Dragon Soul, which is the length of a small novel so far. I'm also brainstorming for a third book to the short stories, and writing a part fan-fic, based on Twilight.
(just say your preferred (nick)name, favorite books, and what stories you've written and/or are working on.)

Three Words to Describe Character:
Song that Describes Character: Need help with your characters' last names? Try Pugs's guide, then!
1. Use real life words, and change the spelling.
For my story, Pieces of Me, I needed a ton of last names. I couldn't think of any, but I just looked at a WI thread about trains, so I thought, Train!
But that is a big easy, so instead, my character was Casey Trayn.
Also, instead of Mrs. Cane, Mrs. Cain or Kain!
2. Use school to help!
Social Studies can help you with your stories. If you've learned about the Barbary Pirates, name your character Barbary, or Phell (just change Philadeliphia around).
3. Rearrange the vowels, Take out letters
I'm using the example of Barbary again. You can make it Berbary or for something like... writing, Wrig. For that, I used the first 3 letters and the last one.
And now it's my turn - I wanna say that the best way I can think of to come up with last names is the phonebook. Just flip through randomly until you find a good last name!
_________________ Writing Prompts:
Just write to answer the question, and a whole story could spout from these! (Or at least the inspiration for one.) Time for some new ones! - Oh my gosh—you were scientifically fiddling around, and accidentally brought a dinosaur to life. What happens?!
- What if you were granted three wishes?
- What if you became what you dressed up as?
- What if you discovered a ghost giving out candy?
- You've just invented a time machine—what sort of adventures do you have?
__________________ Story Starters:
Similar to writing prompts, just continue writing on from these story starters!- One day, I decided to take a trip to the zoo. As I pulled into the parking lot, however, a chaotic scene met my eyes. Everywhere I saw, people were running around and screaming—something to the extent of, "IT'S LOOSE!!" And then, a humongous creature padded outside, bigger than I'd ever seen before, and let loose a roar.
- The whole family sat down for the picnic, and the bear sat down with them.
- The airplane sputtered and sank low into the jungle.
- One dark night I decided to stay up late to do my homework. Suddenly I noticed a big bump on my bedroom wall. I looked closer and saw a rounded lump about a foot across and about eight inches thick that appeared out of nowhere. I rubbed my eyes, looked again, but the lump had disappeared. I figured I must have stayed up too late, so I went to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I was convinced that the mysterious lump was just a dream. But . . . two nights later when I was studying, the lump appeared again. This time I examined it more closely and found...
- Maria stepped up the granite steps. Her cape flew out behind her. "Good morning" She said to the cat. The cat...

“Shusoko!” called my friend, Aliya. I hurried over to her “The witches and wizards have just come in. We must flee,” she said softly. I was shocked. The witches and wizards? They were killed long ago. “I know what you’re thinking,” Aliya continued, “But it looks like we were wrong.” Let me start from the beginning…
Long, long, ago, in the kingdom of Edo, I was born to a fairy queen and a human. This was a disgrace to my family, so they banished my mother and I to Newark, New Jersey, immortal but not able to leave. With the help of a pixie, we escaped. Unfortunately, my father found out, and so he sent people after us. The witches and wizards. They were brutal monsters, loving to kill. Everywhere my mother and I went, they followed us. Somehow, we wound up in Westwood, Massachusetts, and the witches and wizards were all killed by a speeding Acela. Or so we thought. There was a fairy community in Westwood, and my mother and I quickly became friends with them. Then, six months ago, my mother was killed by a CSX boxcar that came crashing into the train she was on. This worried everyone greatly. My mother was supposed to be immortal. The only people that could kill her were the witches and wizards. Aliya’s family took me in after the crash, and we were lulled into a false sense of security.
“Stop daydreaming, Shusoko!” Aliya’s voice jarred me back to the present. She grabbed me and started dragging me at fast as possible away from where we were. “Hey! What are you doing!” I screamed at her “Shhh! The witches and wizards could hear you! We need to get out of here and FAST!” she whispered. I turned around and saw them. The witches and wizards. With their black capes, cloaks, and hoods, they could not be anything else. I struggled out of Aliya’s grasp and ran, as fast a possible. Aliya ran after me. “What about your parent’s?” I asked her “Don’t worry” she responded. A while later we reached the train station. There were her parents, as well as her little sisters, Jilla and Molli, and her older brother, James. I could see their wings, so I knew they were not the witches and wizards in disguise. Aliya’s mother said “Start flying” We looked around to see if there were any humans nearby, and there was not. We took off. Looking down, I could see the witches and wizards looking for us. Then, one of them looked up. “Shusoko!” he yelled. One of them used magic to lift all of them up into the air, and soon they were right next to us. We flew as fast as we could. James noticed Molli and Jilla were gone. That caused Aliya’s parents to be in a state of panic. Then we saw them up ahead, playing and giggling, doing loop-de-loops and other tricks. “Don’t you EVER do that again!” screamed Aliya’s mom. Jilla and Molli nodded their heads. Just then, we noticed the witches and wizards were catching up to us. All of us flapped our wings as fast as possible.
Two day’s later, we were in rural Manhattan, Illinois. The witches and wizards could never find us here! I hoped everybody else back in Westwood was okay. Aliya’s dad noticed a ton of fairies coming from the east and landing in the yard of the house we rented. Who were they, we wondered. As they got closer to the house, we realized they were all our friends from back home. There was much hugging, and joy. But then we saw them. The witches and wizards. Every single one of us ran inside the house, and into the tornado shelter. Aliya whispered to me “Do you think we’ll make it out alive, Shusoko?” I responded “I don’t know.” Upstairs we heard people say “So where ARE they? Don’t tell me you led us on a wild goose chase for nothing.” “What’s going on? Asked Molli and Jilla “Hush!” everybody said. “Let’s look in the basement” I heard someone say. Aliya said to me “It was nice knowing you, Shusoko” “Same” I responded. The door of the tornado shelter opened. We saw their long black cloaks, hoods, and robes. “There’s nothing in here!” said one angrily. BOOM! They had slammed the door of the tornado shelter closed. I just hoped they meant what they said. Knowing them, they could just be trying to lure us out. Jilla opened the door a crack and peered out. Molli said “They’re gone” We climbed out of the shelter. | | | 01-11-2009, 12:29 PM | #6 | appleloverfreak Webkinz :) Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,685 | Re: The Writer's Guild, a Chat for Writers (Part 3) Yeah 4 the new thread!
