Haha, I think most Roman-Catholics are obsessed with Jewish people. Probably because religiously they're closer to us than most other Christian denominations.
There was a woman in my Mom's bible study who knew, like, everything about Jewish people, but that's primarily because she grew up on Long Island where everyone is Jewish or Roman-Catholic. | | | 10-27-2009, 12:22 AM | #2853 | Psalm 4:8 ♥ Gifted Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 3,842 | Re: ..::RELIGILESS::.. the club for those without a religion. Hi yall! I'm a proud christian girl but I would like to bring something up (: I used to think, "Wow those people who put 'I don't believe in God' in their signatures must be REALLY stuck-up or something" but now I realize that I am critisizing myself when I say that. It would be like me putting "Proud Jesus Freak" in my signature and you guys thinking of me as stuck-up. So now I realize that sometimes us Christians aren't all really good. For instance, I have checked out a book from my library called "Evolution: Me and Other Freaks of Nature" its a good book about a girl sued by church with a scheming minister and girls wearing over exposing t-shirts that use vulgar language; all of this starts because the main character's favorite teacher begins the unit of Evolution. And the girl falls for her athiest new guy friend, has strict over religious parents, and is trying to make a decision about her religion. It's a really good book if you guys would like to check it out (:
Thanks for listening

In answer to your question Luna... I chose to be Wiccan because it is (to me) the most natural, earth bound religion(which, by the way, is the definition of a pagan). We pray to a Goddess & God, but they are more to do with nature and 2 halves of a whole (male & female parts of nature). We worship Mother Nature instead of a supreme being. I never understood the idea of an all ruling, deciding, creating, unattainable God who is considered superior to us. I've always been of a more scientific mind and believe in the proof of evolution. I also never liked the rules of a lot of "bigger" orginized religons. (not all) But a lot of Christians and other faiths don't seem to follow their own set of rules & values. And to believe that you can do horrible things and then be forgiven makes the horrible act ok, doesn't sit well with me. I figure you just should not do the bad things to begin with . The only "rules" of my faith is Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do To You & if you do negative it will be returned to you three fold. I also never liked some of the rules given to other faith's religious leaders. I feel it is denying basic human nature. I think most priests would be happier, more faithful people if they were allowed to marry. Faith should be about happiness not sacrifice. And the whole guilt thing is just a wrong way to keep people faithful to their religion. And trying to force your beliefs on others is just wrong. I don't need "saving" LOL I believe there are forces way more powerful than us but they are natural occurances, not a supreme being. Like, for instance, people kind of freak out when they hear that us Wiccans do spells, when all it is is herbalism. It is mixxing differant herbs, oils, etc. together to achieve a certain goal. (no eye of newt neccessary LOL) Which is the exact same thing as modern medicine. Ever taken an asprin? It is made from tree bark. Almost all modern medicine is made from things taken from nature, mixxed together, and abbra-cadabbra....medicine I'm a very lucky person that my mother never pushed her beliefs onto me (she is a Christian). She chose not to baptize me because she believed in religious freedom and since a baby has no understanding of religon, it is wrong to force it on them. She incouraged meto learn about religions before deciding. Was she happy with my choice? Not at all, at first. She was taught that pagans are evil (nothing but a stereotype). After a few years went by and she realized I was not going to change my mind, she broken down and learned about Wiccans from a book I gave her...and was shocked to find out that it was the exact opposite of evil She still is a Christan, but she now understands me a little better and respects my views. This is the reason I read through this thread...I understand how hard it is to deal with people who don't agree with or understand my choice of faith. It angers me that people can wear a cross and it is ok but when I wear my pentacle, people automaticly think I'm evil. I truly believe people have the right to believe what ever they want as long as they are good people and don't hurt anyone else. I'm actually very proud of you, Luna, that you can come to this thread and be accepting and open minded! But, sadly, that is not the norm. | | | 11-20-2009, 05:11 PM | #2856 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 10,381 | Re: ..::RELIGILESS::.. the club for those without a religion. I dunno... a mass VM would be good, but if you didn't use copy-paste, you might get carpal tunnel or something from typing over and over again, "hey, the club's back up, blah blah blah..."
