Can I? Huh? Huh? Puh-leeeeeeze ."
I was in the van with my tween daughter and one of my favorite songs came on (it's one that is a top 10 right now, so it's not an "oldie"). I turned the volume up and started singing. Of course, songs today tend to have strong bass......she said, "Mom! turn that down, you're not a teenager you know!". All the while her eyes were bugging out at me. I swear, they don't think we have any idea what it's like to be "young", we must have all been born "moms".

The Webkinz addiction started after his deployment. I got my first one after seeing my DDs pink/white cat (which was bought by my mom) and decided to get my own. Well as many addictions grow like a brush fire so did these cute little things. My first webbie, a leopard named Steve, slept with me every single night! He is still my favorite. Anyhow, I have to admit there is no shame in collecting them because of my children. They have learned early in life that mommy is not exactly "normal". Long story short, when my DH gets home, he will find a large basket OVER FLOWING with webkinz...and by the way, the basket is under the night stand. You can say the decor has really changed in the ol' bedroom. He will not be home for several more months, which gives me plenty of time to add to the bulk. And the dreaming....oh girls do I dream about those furry friends! I actually had a nightmare when I first opened my account. You see, I did not know the ends and outs of , and figured that all of our webbies had to be tucked into bed before logging out. Well one of the first nights on the account, WW shut down for maintenance. I couldn't get my ol' leopard to bed. I panicked like a crazy woman all night thinking that when I got on to the account the next morning...my leopard would be dead. Ya...I now know the truth to the whole "bed" thing. However, at the time I didn't know better and freaked out. I really felt like a bad mommy. Boy, I love the fact that I have you all to talk to...By the way, is it just us moms or are there any dads in here too? It seems that we are all moms...I just wasn't sure. Oh...and I too am a pusher. Got the neighbor friend hooked. She doesn't have kids to share the wealth with..go figure...she now has more than me... Good thing to this whole story is that I am also a memeber of a Webkinz family. The DH supports the addiction and knows my list for these things goes out the door! Which leaves him with plenty ideas for holidays and special occassions! First - Thank you for being a soldiers wife!! What you rhusband is doing for our country is to be honored, no matter how anyone feels about the war or the military, your family is to be congratulated!!
That said...boy do I know the guilt and worry of not putting your little guy or gal to bed before logging off. Even though I know better, I still have issues. I also have trouble if I don't have everyone dressed (or undressed). I have an awful issue with treating each of my Webkinz equally (so as not to hurt their feelings!!!) Heck, I'm not that nutty with my own kids!

I guess it started for us when my daughter's best friend moved out of state she begged me to get her one so that they could stay in touch that way, at first I did not want to go there but she was feeling so sad that we got her one. Like many of you it started out just wanting to "help" her with hers and of course she did not like my names I picked out or the room themes I liked best and So I got myself the st. bernard intending for it to be my only one, well lets just say that I have 2 accounts and refuse to count them I have removed tags and hid the poor bodies of duplacates in the empty cereal boxes in the trash. See my problem is if I have a great name I need the webbie to go with it and I come up with lots of good names . I of course had to get one for my friend when she had surgery now her and her daughter are hooked. My sisters girls never could have one till I bought them all one when the youngest was in a serious car accident I got one for my sister and of course had to pull my mom in and get her one too. So it has turned into a whole family thing. Our only problem is the men in the family they are all discussed by this my dad and brother in law get pretty ticked my husband is a bit better since I got the littlekinz monkey and named it little Al after him of course then I needed the little Panda to name it randa panda after my daughter and i am still on the look out for one to name after my 25 year old son It just never ends the things I can come up with that makes me need another webkinz! Wow. That's quite a strory... do you want to come visit so you can get all my family hooked? ....especially MIL.... she's one TOUGH cookie! DH likes to tease me and MIL goes on a rant.... not so much fun.... so come on over. | | | 10-15-2008, 10:44 PM | #106 | Candy loves WI Webkinz :) Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,870 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz I had to tell my daughter to stop telling people how many I have!! I am Gifted Join Date: Aug 2008 Posts: 701 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz Sneaking and hiding...I love these stories. I can't say that enough...really. As many of you already may know...I don't hide my webkinz. My daughter and I agree that if one gets one and not the other...that is not fair. So...I am always buying Webkinz in pairs. The one that is on the top of the list right now for the both of us is the pink/white puppy. I want that little webby so bad!! Ok...now here is a great question for all of you...does anyone carry their webkinz around OR sleep with them? I have to confess to yes on both accounts. Of course I carry my webkinz to the couch while watching a movie...not to the grocery store. I could only imagine the looks I would get from other folks . Oh...and FireBranda...this question is for you. How difficult is it to move up the "gift" ladder? I don't have a lot to trade...but want to trade. I know you have to have 50 posts to even qualify for a trainee position. If you would like...send me a PM so that we don't take up the space on our fun addiction site. Thanks bunches!! | | | 10-16-2008, 09:21 AM | #110 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 91 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz I do have a few webbies hidden in my closet, but those are mostly for my kids (I do have a raccoon in there for me though... )
I also tend to buy the webbies in groups of three (one for each of my kids, and one for me!) My Hallmark has been running a deal lately where you get a free figurine with every $20 webkinz purchase - so buying 3 webbies nets me two figures, which I give to my kids, but we log them on to my account since I have the collector shelf!
The last time I went to the Hallmark store, though, my kids were with me and we were all talking about which Webbies we wanted. I tried not to make it obvious that I was buying a Webkinz for myself, but my kids were not so subtle, and they were loudly suggesting which one I should buy for my account. When I went to the register, the cashier mentioned how great the figurine deal was, and I said "Yeah, the kids are excited about it." and she said "Looks like the kids aren't the only ones that play with Webkinz - I overheard that you have an account, too?" I was so embarrased, I just mumbled "Yes" and then I finished my transaction and got the heck out of there. *Sigh* Sometimes it's hard being a parent who still likes to play like the kids do!
Oh, and Luvmylaurecas, I do not sleep with or carry around my plushies, but they are all out on top of my dresser and nightstand in my room, and some that I have not logged on yet are sitting in my home office on the shelf over my computer, so they are all close by in case I need to hug one! LOL!
