My daughter complains, "Why can't I have a normal mom like everyone else?". If she only knew...... | | | 10-14-2008, 10:12 AM | #94 | dance like a Gift Guru Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 6,400 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz | | | 10-14-2008, 11:47 AM | #95 | owzer!! I am Gifted Join Date: Aug 2008 Posts: 701 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz Ok...let me tell you all a story about my DH...you see he is currently deployed and has been gone for roughly 7 months now. The Webkinz addiction started after his deployment. I got my first one after seeing my DDs pink/white cat (which was bought by my mom) and decided to get my own. Well as many addictions grow like a brush fire so did these cute little things. My first webbie, a leopard named Steve, slept with me every single night! He is still my favorite. Anyhow, I have to admit there is no shame in collecting them because of my children. They have learned early in life that mommy is not exactly "normal". Long story short, when my DH gets home, he will find a large basket OVER FLOWING with webkinz...and by the way, the basket is under the night stand. You can say the decor has really changed in the ol' bedroom. He will not be home for several more months, which gives me plenty of time to add to the bulk. And the dreaming....oh girls do I dream about those furry friends! I actually had a nightmare when I first opened my account. You see, I did not know the ends and outs of , and figured that all of our webbies had to be tucked into bed before logging out. Well one of the first nights on the account, WW shut down for maintenance. I couldn't get my ol' leopard to bed. I panicked like a crazy woman all night thinking that when I got on to the account the next morning...my leopard would be dead. Ya...I now know the truth to the whole "bed" thing. However, at the time I didn't know better and freaked out. I really felt like a bad mommy. Boy, I love the fact that I have you all to talk to...By the way, is it just us moms or are there any dads in here too? It seems that we are all moms...I just wasn't sure. Oh...and I too am a pusher. Got the neighbor friend hooked. She doesn't have kids to share the wealth with..go figure...she now has more than me... Good thing to this whole story is that I am also a memeber of a Webkinz family. The DH supports the addiction and knows my list for these things goes out the door! Which leaves him with plenty ideas for holidays and special occassions! | | | 10-14-2008, 01:25 PM | #96 | Addicted To Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 323 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz Yes, I too am a parent addicted to WebKinz. I saw a segment about Webkinz on Good Morning America one morning and mentioned it to my daughter. She was interested and so was I. After doing some research online about it, we went shopping for our first WebKinz. She got the Frog and I got the Googles. It's been all down hill for me from there. I am way more addicted than she is. But, we have fun buying new pets for each other and helping each other out as much as possible. Since she lives in another state, she is able to find things that I can't always fine where I live. I have to get up early for work every day so I can have time for gardening and my daily activities. | | | 10-14-2008, 05:05 PM | #97 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 91 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz Wow! Hello to all the new addicts that have signed in and THANKS for sharing your stories! They are all great!
As for the DH, I TRIED to get him into Webkinz, but failed. I thought my plan was good. You see, he likes bears, especially because we live in an area where black bears are frequently spotted and he has been dying to catch a glimpse of one in the woods behind our house. So, when I saw how happy my kids were to give me Webbies on Mother's Day, I thought they would LOVE to give my DH some for Father's Day, and then he would love them, because they were from the kids! So we went out and got him both the big and Li'l black bears and the kids gave them to him for Father's Day. Well, he at least made a good show for them, but I could see he wasn't really interested. Then, later I talked him into sitting down with me and logging them in. He picked out names for them, and picked out the football theme for their room, but that was about it. He didn't want an account of his own, so they were fortunately placed on my account, otherwise they'd be very lonely by now. He still has the plushies on his nightstand, but he has about as much interest in as he does to go clothes shopping with me! LOL!
Oh well! At least he accepts MY addiction!

LOL, Ill get home from work and he will ask if there is anything I need to get caught up on in Webworld! | | | 10-14-2008, 06:10 PM | #99 | Bubblegum6011 Gifted Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 1,700 | Re: Parents Addicted to Webkinz Well, I'm not a parent. But I AM addicted to Webkinz. I feel ashamed of it but I can't help it, so I **** it up and live with my addiction. My twin sister, Rachel, got me started last year a few months after she got her first Golden Retriever Webkinz she named Shredy. I got a Googles, which I called a duck at the time, and named it Gummie. Now, 13 months later, I have 15 Webkinz! And by the end of the year, I hope 17! You should make a club for Parents Addicted to Webkinz.
