Hello, and welcome to the Newspaper Writing club! ...the one and only home of the Newspaper Association of Webkinz Insider (NAWI) ~~ Read, write, make friends, and have fun!! ~~ Kay Please read the announcements section of this thread toward the end of the post. FAQ:
--What does the Newspaper Writing club do? -- Newspaper Writing Club members will work together each month to put together and publish a newspaper each month, full of articles written by different members. The members can pick an article topic(s) of their choice each month, submit it to the manager, and then read their very own article in the paper at the end of the month! Or, you can have a staff job and help manage and publish the paper.
-- Nope! Anyone can join, whether they want to meet new people, expand their writing skills, or show off their talents. This can also be a good club for you if you want to learn more about writing, editing, or managing!
-- All you need to do to join is just post, saying that you would like to be a member of NAWI. When you join, you can submit your monthly articles and writing, or you can submit a form to have a staff job (or both!). If at any time you would like to be taken off the members list, please notify the manager. -- Once you join, you can pick any topic for your article that you want (as long as it's WI appropriate and follows all the rules), or you can submit a form to have a staff job. The different staff jobs, as well as ideas for article topics, are in the Topic Suggestions and Job Openings section below this FAQ. -- Yes, you can. However, I recommend using the staff form each month as I think it will be easier for you to have the job you want, but if you are positive that you want a permanent job, just let me know and you will have that job until you notify us otherwise with a new form. You should see an asterisk (*) by your job on the members list below if you have a permanent job. If you don't have an asterisk by your staff job, it will be cleared at the end of the month and you will need to submit a new form. -- Unfortunately, as with every thread, some rules must be put in place. Please look at the Rules section underneath this FAQ. Thanks for your cooperation! -- Let us know! Our editors are always very lovely and kind, and if you don't want to have your article edited, just PM the editor or the manager and tell them. -- Send your article in a Private Message (PM) to the me once you have finished and are ready to submit it. All articles or things for the paper that are not in my PM box may not be included, so make sure you send it to me in a PM! (This is so that I don't have to sort through the entire thread looking for articles. If you post your article on the thread instead of sending it in a PM, I will consider it a draft.) NOTE: If you are a Lil' Kinz, it is okay to post your article on this thread. Once the deadline has passed for submitting articles (the 24th), the manager will put the articles together in a paper and send the draft of the paper to the editor and assistant editor for a final editing before publishing day.

Please keep in mind that these are just suggestions if you have writers' block and cannot think of a topic. If you can think of a topic not on this list, by all means, please write about it! Again, these are all just suggestions, and it is recommended you come up with your own idea.

Staff Openings:
Contest judges: Several judges who will help select winners for the monthly contest. (More than one person can have this job)
Editor (wtmmr5): Does a final review and edit over all the articles for that month's newspaper in the last week of the month for publishing, can work with the Assistant Editors or by themselves.
Assistant Editor (lepordlizard)(lil_horse_lover): Does a final review and edit over all the articles for that month's newspaper in the last week of the month for publishing, can work with the Editor or by themselves. (2 people can have this job)
Brainstormer: Comes up with new ideas for articles, monthly columns, ect, just general ways to make the newspaper better. They will converse with the writers and can help give them ideas.
Manager (Kayfookey): This will be me for a while, and my job is to make sure everyone knows what their job is, to contact people, deal with new members, questions, and the overseer of everything in the newspaper.
Secretary: Sends PM announcements. If a member has an announcement they want to share with all of the other members, they can save time by sending it to the secretary, and they will forward it to all of the members (it's harder than it sounds!). The secretary is very much appreciated. The only requirements are: must be a committed member who frequently visits WI.
Welcomer: This person will welcome new members with a VM or PM, introducing themselves and giving them some information about NAWI. Must be NAWI member for at least one month.
Graphic Designer (wtmmr5): Creates a banner for that month an its theme, as well as making pictures and other banners to be included throughout the Chronicle.
????: Feel free to make up your own staff job or offer new ideas that you think would help the newspaper!
**If you choose to make up your own staff job, please clear it with me first. We are always open for new staff ideas, I know there are not many!**

As you can see, there's a lot to do! Remember, be creative with your job! There's more freedom in the job system now, so everything will be less stressful and more fun. - First and foremost, please observe all WI rules and regulations.
- No inappropriate writing subjects or subjects that would violate any of the WI rules.
- Only submit original works into contests. For articles, all non-original work must be sited.
- No non-verified news for news articles. The only sources that you may get news for your article is from Webkinz Insider (only verified news, no rumor mill topics, please), the Webkinz Insider WIki, Webkinz Newz, or Webkinz World.
- Please PM all articles to me if possible; all writing posted on this thread will be considered a draft and will not be published in the paper.
- Contest rules include:
- Only original works may be submitted as an entry.
- It is okay to bounce ideas off of each other if you are stuck, but no copying please.
- Don't post your entry on the thread; please PM me if possible.
- Observe all WI rules and regulations and all other NAWI rules.
- Keep in mind that there is no prize for being selected other than having your writing featured in the paper; it is not really a contest.
- Please don't be upset if your writing isn't selected; be a good sport! We're all here to have fun. Thanks!

- Chat (writing related) is encouraged! It never hurts to help out other members with topic ideas and questions, or maybe you have some of your own! That's what we NAWI members are here for; to encourage each other.

August Writer Feature: Have you ever been on a scavenger hunt? Well, NAWI invites you to grab your safari hat and go on a scavenger hunt of your own! Usually when you have a scavenger hunt, you physically gather objects on a list. Instead of gathering the objects on your list, write complete descriptions of the items as you find them. How creative can you get describing one of eight of these things?
an angry exchange
something unpleasant
an out-of-place object
something fresh, new, or unused
a well-loved object
a lost or forgotten object
something well-used
a home-made or hand-made object
Tips: Try different points of view, an unusual perspective, an creative interpretation, or weave in a story for your descriptions. Remember that your description can be as short or as long as you like.
The contest judges this month will be judging each entry on the creativity, style, and overall quality of the interpretation of these objects. So get our your favorite pencil or open Microsoft Word to begin writing!

Job you'd like (possibly a list of top 5 jobs you want so I can fit you in where needed): Summary writer, birthday articles writer, reporter, or general writer. I could probably do the summary writer and the birthday articles writer since they're small jobs. I would prefer to be a general writer on top of that, but I could be a reporter also.
Number of jobs: I could probably handle 3 or 4, if that's what you mean.

Hello News Club readers and writers! I'd like to make some announcements:
** Welcome to pups-and-foals, our newly joined News Club member! Pups-and-foals will be the summary writer, the birthday article writer, and her own (temporary) reporter for this month of November. Congrats to pups! 
** I'd like to bring it to your attention that this month's paper will be for the month of November, not December as mentioned earlier this week. Hopefully, we can get the paper ready in time to edit on the 29th of November and publish it the next day. So, let's get writing!!
** One more announcement: Don't forget to enter your poem, piece of a short story, or your great writing tips/advice! The showcase entry period ends two weeks from today, on November 27th. This "contest" is a great opportunity to show off your writing abilities, and maybe get a little more traffic to your writing thread (hey, everyone can use that! )! If your piece is selected for the paper, it will get published in the November issue along with a link to your writing thread here on WI, if you want. In addition, we'll conduct a little survey to ask you about your writing. It'll be a lot of fun! So don't forget to enter soon!

We still have no entries for the contest, and pups-and-foals is our only member so far!
Since we have no entries yet, for the sake of the contest I will post my poem:
