How do you breathe when this happens?

and just to have a laugh here is a quote off a news page From Dawn on Facebook: gale, creepy red fog, sound of sirens. WT*? Expecting Martian war machine to lurch into view any minute.

And Trek, you've never heard of "tough" love? Yes I have heard of "tough" Love its my eyes that fail me not my hearing and I have had plenty of it over the years.
as for breathing its not actually to bad, very very fine dust so I hardly even noticed it (breathing wise) but the obvious answer would be in through the nose out through the mouth.
Its almost like a fog not so much a dust storm (even weirder) Last edited by treknx01; 09-22-2009 at 06:19 PM.. | | | 09-22-2009, 06:33 PM | #105 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 841 | Re: The ERG (Emperors Rear Guard) Club for WW fun | | | 09-22-2009, 06:41 PM | #106 | ill PM Gift Guru Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 4,978 | Re: The ERG (Emperors Rear Guard) Club for WW fun We use to have big dust storms in Texas when I was a younger not so much anymore. I can remember placing wet towels on the window sills and doorways trying to keep the dust and sand out. It would strip the paint right off the car and pit the glass in the windshield. And yes it stung if you got caught out in it, I once out ran one out on the flats once at 80 mph and just manage to get inside before it hit... funny I can still remember how it filled the sky after all of these years. So stay safe, that picture is pretty until you realize what it is, reminds me of the red clay we have up near Dallas. | | | 09-22-2009, 07:17 PM | #107 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 841 | Re: The ERG (Emperors Rear Guard) Club for WW fun Wow Ergoiam! I've never seen that kind of thing before, I'm sure it happens here in the outback, but for us cityish dwellers this is very odd. I'm finding it a bit icky our floor inside feels dusty and I've had to put the clothes on racks to dry, my new little veges are all dusty and red and going outside is not something I want to do, I'm dreading having to clean up when it passes, I can see red mud everywhere. 9am Asian time bring a great money making sale at the outlet. Buy the pants and make a 20kc profit per pair. Last edited by Ladyt; 09-22-2009 at 07:18 PM.. However, I loved growing up in West Texas and cherish those memories. I live in the Texas Hill Country now... a far cry from the flat land that you could see for miles. Here we have too much Mountain Cedar to see too far, but the views are still breath taking and I love all of our stars at night, however we seem to have less and less each year because of the folks who move to the country and set up security lights... the light pollution is not conducive to star gazing. It really is a shame because they do make security lights that shine the light down, but they are more expensive so ergo everyone buys the cheaper kind that shine up and out. I'll get off my soapbox now. | | | 09-22-2009, 10:13 PM | #109 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 12,321 | Re: The ERG (Emperors Rear Guard) Club for WW fun Sorry trek, just taking the convo here ... there were some flights from Auckland that were diverted I think.
The front page here calls it "Red Dawn in Sydney" - it sort of looks like an early Halloween.
What you need is a bit of wind and rain - that is what the forecast is here this week, so sending some of that your way across the Tasman. | | | 09-22-2009, 10:18 PM | #110 | The Emperor Banned Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,593 | Re: The ERG (Emperors Rear Guard) Club for WW fun Originally Posted by commodore Sorry trek, just taking the convo here ... there were some flights from Auckland that were diverted I think.

Oh the Wind we have that is the problem right there we have way to much of it and its bring the "dust" half way across the country, who knows with the direction NZ may even get some of the dust (doubt it but you never know)
as for the RED DAWN, a very accurate discription it was literally like a red light was turned on early this morning its now a almost white light but strangly like a fog has set in all around | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
