Members: 7! What are you doing to make a difference? Actually we have an ACS meeting tonight! I totally forgot about it until now! Actually once we went to this hotel for cancer patients that were staying in town while they have there treatments with no where to stay so this hotel let's them stay there for free. Well we went to that hotel and talked with the patients and got to know them it was fun | | | 02-24-2009, 07:47 PM | #23 | I <33 you Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,954 | Re: Cancer Support Club! Members: 7! What are you doing to make a difference? It sounds fun! The VA is really depressing, but I like to go and flash a smile at a person and watch them light up.

My story:
I have been hearing about cancer and the sorrows it brings ever since I was very little. You know, the latest gossip that flies around a small church: "Jenna's grandmother was just diagnosed with bone cancer." "Martha Ann won't be here today, she had her chemotherapy yesterday."
But I never really, really, truly, cared , until now. I mean, of course I cried a few tears over my friend's cousin, teacher's sister, etc., but I never really felt the need to do anything about it. Never until now.
Recently, the cancer came back in my grandfather's mouth. We went through weeks of chemo with no results. The doctors said that the cancer was in his left jaw bone, tongue, and 3/4 of the left side of his face. The only option was surgery. But they would need to take out his tongue and jaw bone. My grandpa was worried that he would "Look like some God *beep)* freak" without his jaw bone. He refused to have the surgery.
Unless you've been through what I have, you won't understand what it's like. What it's like to know that if the person you love doesn't have a surgery, they will have holes in their face as the cancer slowly and painfully eats it way through his face until he dies. I cried, prayed, cried some more, prayed, cried, cried, and prayed at Youth Jubilee.
When I got home from Jubilee, I found out the news.
He agreed to have the surgery! I was overjoyed. He had the surgery, and is still living today. Looking fine.

What's your story? So in october 2008 there was a small lump in his neck. the doc said swollen tonsils , and so on jan 2 , he got his tonsils removed. on january 6 he told he had stage 4 cancer. I cried so hard , i couldn't believe it. i was going to go up to his room , but i didn't think i could see him . that is how overwhelmed i was. so he does aggressive chemo until mid-may. and in the end of march he will get radiation until mid may. so when he starts radiation we move to a 3 bedroom apartment for a month or more. at the biggest , his cancer tumor was 7.7 mm. but now it is about 3.2 mm.

I was thinking it could be like an actual newspaper (I'm sort of involved with my school newspaper, I love newspapers! Just not the depressing kind). People could submit to me their art, comics, poems, articles, etc. They would all be on subject of course. Last edited by gracie503; 02-26-2009 at 10:17 PM..
