I would say like the white pearl color or just plane white. They do make your teeth look yellow, and you can really tell when people get food stuck in them. I have never gotten it myself, because I never thought they looked very good (: In my personal opinion. I also don't really like yellow, it kind of does the same affects as white.

I totally know what you mean! Ice cream and smoothies are my BFF's after tightening. I have learned that the more you "baby" your teeth, the longer the pain lasts. I fell that in my personal experiences, that when you eat like regular meals the pain only lasts a day. I use to think braces really hurt, but then I got surgery...... Now tightenings don't really hurt, or maybe i am just use to it, cuz i have had my braces on for almost 1 1/2 years

Hi! My DS may get braces. He's getting a spacer first, to help the teeth grow in the right place, then he may get them. Thx so much for the helpful info.

He would like to know: which hurts more: having braces, or the bands he has right now? (the bands to separate a space between the two back teeth, where the spacer will be cemented)

thx :cmunk:-He chose these icons, & the :cmunk: is his fav webbie.

The braces definetly hurt more. But, if needed to correct over/under bites, rubber bands hurt more. Hope this helps!

Hello! So nice to see a mod here!

First of all, tell your son good luck! Braces can be a pain, but they are totally worth it in the end. I just got mine off last week, & I can't quit smiling now!

If you want to check the front page, our members have posted tons of suggestions for what & what not to eat, colors, etc...some of it is pretty helpful!

& about the spacers vs. braces question - braces were worse for me, but that was probably because my teeth were already pretty spaced out. It kind of depends on the person, but usually it's the braces that are worse. Don't worry though, it's not too bad! Eat lots of ice cream!

Oh, & nice choice of smileys!

~Kenzie

I haven't had spacers, but I've heard they're really bad. Braces never really bother me. The worst was when I got my bottom braces, otherwise I've been pretty good. Except when I had surgery on my teeth which was annoying.

Hey! I am sure that your son will live through braces and spacers. Spacers to me did not hurt at all for me personally. Braces hurt more. But on the other had to my mom spacers hurt more than the braces, so i guess it just depends on the mouth Braces aren't that bad. They are bad for the first couple tightenings, and once you get familiar on how to eat, and the first day pains go away, braces are fine!
They TOTALLY pay off in the long run though!

P.s good luck with braces! And nice choice of smilies!

It was pretty bad. I looked like a chipmunk. Only blonds with fair skin get swollen faces, and of course I am blonde with fair skin! And the stitches that dangled in my mouth, wasn't that fun either. It was all right other than that though. I guess.. haha. Overall it was NOT a fun experience
