i may have a long time ago, to where i'd only remember the movie as for what happened. although i do have the complete series, but from a long time ago... i tired reading it and the version i have seemed like it was written by a very little kid...so i stopped reading it because i couldn't get into it (this was more recently). looking at my book the first edition printed by the company Collier Books (the publisher of the book i have) was printed in 1970... i didn't realize that this series was written that long ago, it says in my book that CS Lewis' copyright was dated 1950. | | | 04-15-2009, 03:52 AM | #26 | texasanne Gift Guru Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 2,052 | Re: Book Club Nickname~ Anne Favorite Book/series~ Harry Potter Favorite Authors~ It is so hard to choose just one! Lilian Jackson Braun (The Cat Who.. mysteries) Don Coldsmith (The Trail of the Spanish Bit saga) Janet Oke (Christian author) | | | 04-15-2009, 04:01 AM | #27 | texasanne Gift Guru Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 2,052 | Re: Book Club I LOVE to read. I have those three favorite authors. Each one in a different genre. I generally like books that are easy to read, well written, humorous, and make me feel happy in my escape. I enjoy classics like The Scarlet Pimpernel and books by Mark Twain. I enjoy pioneer romance, time travel romance, and comedy books, especially by Erma Bombeck. My favorite sci-fi is The Dark Horn Blowing by Dahlov Ipcar.
I just finished reading a book (time travel romance) for a book club I am in but it is way too mature for anyone under 18. I am up for reading a new book. If we do read books as a group, I hope we would have a couple of weeks to finish reading it.
Idea....We can suggest books to read and then vote on it. That will be the one to read as a group and we would have a certain length of time to read it. We could even create a thread for each book so anyone on WI can post if they have read the book! I think we will do that! Yeah same here, I only really remember the movie! But I think we are going to do anne's idea! | | | 04-15-2009, 10:03 AM | #29 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 3,073 | Re: Book Club her idea sounded good. my only problem with it would be the books i am already reading...mainly the last half of a series i have to finish... and i don't normally read more than one book at a time. have done it, but not a normal thing. plus we're going to have to keep an eye out on age level of books too. my only other issue would be time... i tend to read slowly...but i do like the idea! | | | 04-15-2009, 10:05 AM | #30 | ♥Clarinet 4♥ Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 5,170 | Re: Book Club Yeah that is true.
