This is the place for all of us fans to talk about one of the greatest bands to exist, The Newsboys!
For those that aren't really familiar with them, they're a Christian Pop Rock(or, as I like to call it, CPR).
Some history...
(From wikipedia cuz Im too lazy to put the info together myself)
Newsboys' original core members, bassist Sean Taylor, vocalist John James, and drummer Peter Furler, formed the band in Australia in 1985 along with Furler's guitarist school mate, George Perdikis. The band's original name was The News, but once in the U.S. they changed it to The Newsboys to avoid conflict with the U.S.-based band Huey Lewis and the News. The band came to the United States in late 1987 after getting signed with Refuge Communications, and released the album Read All About It in 1988 in the United States. After signing with Star Song Communications, they released two more albums from 1990 to 1991: Hel.l Is For Wimps and Boys Will Be Boyz. None of the three albums garnered much attention, and the band's lineup changed with every release

Michael Tait: Lead Vocals
Duncan Phillips: Drums
Jeff Frankenstein: Keyboard,Bass,Vox
Jody Davis: Guitar, Vocals (note: he recently got a haircut,lol)

Some things you need to know how the NB...
Info retrieved from various NB fan sites..
Dunny = Duncan's nickname. In Australia, a dunny is a toilet (sometimes an outhouse). That doesn't keep his bandmates from using the name occasionally. Squiz = Duncan's nickname. Claims it's his middle name. No one believes him. In Australia, squiz means look, "Take a squiz at that thing over there!" Oinch = Jeff's nickname. yeah, I have no idea. Some claim it stands for "Oi, Never Chew Ham."(which is great advice, pig is DISGUSTING) but I'd say that's more of a joke than the actually definition. Helmet=Jody's Nickname Dr. F or Dr. Frankenstein = Usually a nickname for Jeff Frankenstein, especially since he showed up in a lab coat at the LLD tour! In the Oi!-eos world, Dr. F shows up occasionally to help sick cookies. He may or may not be the Jeff cookie.(See Oi!-eos definition) Newswives = The wives of the Newsboys Summer = Peter's wife Heather = Phil's wife Phynley = Phil and Heather's daughter Eden = Phil and Heather's son Breeon = Duncan's wife Taylor = Duncan's daughter Madison = Duncan's daughter "Jack Jack"=Duncan's son Erika = Jody's wife Bethany = Jody and Erika's daughter Violet=Jody's daughter Jeni = Jeff's wife ..Im not sure if Jody has any more children or if Jeff and Jeni have..or Mike.. Former 'Boys.. John James = Former Newsboy. Lead vocals. Founded the band with Peter Furler.
Kevin Mills = Former Newsboy. Bass. Left to join another band, then died a few years later in an automobile accident.
Cory Pryor = Former Newsboy. Keyboards.
Vernon Bishop = Former Newsboy. Guitar.
Jonathan Geange = Former Newsboy. Guitar.
Phil Yates = Former Newsboy. Guitar.
Sean Taylor = Former Newsboy. Bass.
George Perdikas = Former Newsboy. Guitar. Left the band before their first album(What a Wally  ) Albums/Videos RAAI = "Read All About It," the Newsboys first CD release, in 1988 HIFW = "H.ell is For Wimps," Newsboys CD released in 1990 BWBB = "Boys Will Be Boyz," Newsboys CD released in 1991 NA = "Not Ashamed," Newsboys CD released in 1992 (considered by Peter Furler and others to be the first "real" Newsboys CD) GP = "Going Public," Newsboys CD released in 1993 TMTYL = "Take Me To Your Leader," Newsboys CD released in 1996 SUTTM = "Step Up to the Microphone," Newsboys CD released in 1998 LLD = "Love, Liberty, Disco," Newsboys CD released in 1999 (also called "loveliberydisco") STH = "Shine...The Hits," Newsboys CD released in 2000 (compilation with some new songs DUTBT = "Down Under the Big Top," Newsboys' hour-long movie released direct-to-video in 1996. Based loosely on the song "Reality." Other stuff.. Poachel = A fictional food. In "Down Under the Big Top" Jody and Jeff were discussing the nature of bagels. Jody suggested they were boiled in water. Jeff said that would be poaching. "You don't poach dough! They're not called poachels! They're called bagels. They're baked. Get it?!" And so the legend begins! Never pet a burning dog = Quote attributed to Phil (originally to Kevin Mills, former band member). Never take food from a stingy man = Quote attributed to Phil, taken from the book of Proverbs. The Disco Ball Incident = During the LLD tour, a huge disco ball fell on Peter's head. He bled some and had to go to the hospital after the show, but he was okay. The Collar Bone Incident = Phil broke his collar bone while motorbiking on the first day of the Steven Curtis Chapman tour. Phil made it through the rest of the tour, though. A sling and lots of aspirin! Phil's collarbone looks a little weird on that side now Oi!-eos = Fictional living cookies in the shapes of the Newsboys. Invented way back when by a gal named Sarah. Cookietalkers request a bag of cookies which arrive (fictionally) at their house. The bag contains the five Newsboys, sometimes their wives, and occasionally a Bob Smiley or a John James (those last two being very rare). The cookies have adventures, which the Cookietalkers tell us about in the form of a Cookie Convo (a script-like telling of their tale). Typically the cookies are prank-pullers and are always getting into trouble. Cookies = see Oi!-eos Cookietalkers = see Oi!-eos Cookieconvos = see Oi!-eos The Three Great Mysteries of the Newsboys = (1) Peter's birthdate (including year) Found it out, thanks Beet! (2) Duncan's middle name (probably not Squiz as he claims it is) (3) The meaning of Oinch (Jeff's nickname)

They're very interesting folks, they're defintely a band worth learning more about(even to a point of obsession *whistles*). Im gonna update the first post today with more info.
