1. The advice someone gave in an older thread on this subject about keeping your aim at the bottom of the box after about 10 hits is very good. Even if a pitch is a little high, you can still hit it from down there. But if you keep your aim in the middle or on the top, you will miss a lot of the lower pitches. Plus it is easier to just keep your aim at the bottom, and focus on your right/left aim, and whether it is a strike or not, then to worry about adjusting up or down also. Keep your swing as simple as possible.
2. If you hit the Zingoz lower than the bullseye, this means you swung a little bit early--if it goes higher than the bullseye, you were a tad bit late with your swing (obviously if you are way too early or late--or don't swing at all at one in the zone--it will be a strike). You miss left and right based on the location of the pitch, and whether your contact is centered or off to the side. Using this knowledge to adjust your timing on future swings should help you hit more Zingoz and score more points.
3. After about 15 hits, you actually score more from hitting the gray part of the target than the red bullseye (the most you can score from a bullseye hit is 500 points--400 + 100 bonus--but after about 15 hits, you start to score over 450 for hitting the gray + a 50 point bonus). A lot of times you can't really aim too much anyway, or you risk swinging and missing...but in case you have time to adjust your aim, don't make a perfect swing or it can cost you points!! :-)
4. Just like in baseball, the machine sometimes throws Zingoz out of the strike zone--you do not have to swing at those (Usually they don't start until after about 15 hits, but it varies). Sometimes you can hit them anyway (usually missing the target), and other times they are either so fast or so far outside/inside, you can't hit them--but of course if you swing it is still a strike. By watching it go past without swinging, you save a strike, andit still gives you some points. I have seen the machine throw 3, 4, and even 5 balls in a row after your score starts to get up there. The higher your score, the more likely they will throw you a ball.
5. Practice, practice, practice---by doing this, you get a good feel for when the pitch is in the zone or a ball.
6. If all of the sudden a pitch comes super fast (when previous ones were normal speed), more than likely it is a ball. It is so hard to resist the urge to swing at it though, as you have very little time to decide--again this is where practice and experience pay off.
Good luck!! |
